Very true. In fact, the team is already working on vehicles scattering when under attack and using smoke grenades.

I sense that we're going to be re-living some of the threads that we had when FC was released - If it's not simply F4 with a helicopter in it, it's just not what some people want...

hey guys, I am glad to see that there is some open discussion going on over first impressions of DCS black shark. Now I am not going to go into a huge in depth review, simply because I cant. :)

But I just want to say, Black Shark is amazing. It is totally awesome. I cant wait to see how the series evolves over time, with upgrades and new modules.

However, I have wanted to ask, and I havent seen anyone else post on it, so here goes nothing.

I cant seem to run DCS at 1680X1250. There is a noticeable hit to the framerate, that bothers the heck out of me at that resolution. I turned the "in-game" settings down to like 1280 by 1024 ( I think ) with the computer settings still at 1680, and that definitely smoothed things out, however obviously I would really like it to be played in full 1680.

On another note, for those of you (myself included) that do not have rudder pedals, you are going to want them A.S.A.P rudder control is much more intensive with the black shark, and is essential if you really want to master the controls. If you are using a twist rudder (on stick), you are gonna be in for a rough flight.

Its gonna blow your mind the first time you realize that your rotor blades just flew off because you overstressed the aircraft! Got Pedals!?

I also want to acknowledge all of ED's awesome effort into this project. You guys are awesome, keep up the good work.

so as far as not being able to run 1680X1250, my specs should be more than good enough.

Is this a known bug?

Looking forward to purchasing the western version when it comes out.

Dont let the smell get to ya...............

Very nice!

But I have to say that there is a big problem with ground Units which should be solved first:

Behaviour of the Ground AI when moving in a column.

1.They often stop, when the leader is dead.

2. Also, they often stuck on, at least, very small hills and won't move anymore.

Don't missunderstand me!!!

I am not complaining. This is, after all these years, finally a Game(especially Sim), which is very low on bugs for a v1.0!(espacially compared to Falcon:D)

Just report a, for me personally, important bug wich makes mission building very difficult.

I know there is no support for us in english, now. But I hope that you except some (critical) bug reporting;) (I have some Russian/Armenian friends...but don't want to ask for, writing stuff for me, because they are not playing Games...so I post it here)

deadsmell, you're not suposed to run game at 1680x1250 as no monitor suports that resolution. There's 1680x1050 for 22" but not 1680x1250 (ratio 1.3444 which is not suported anywhere)

PC specs:

Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR

Guys stopp woring enjoy the first releas with what is has. It will take most of us months to just learn all the systems. And as soon as the western verson is released they will start working on the next upgrade that will hopfuly fix most of the problems you are asking about. I am sure thay already have a list of fixes from the beta testers that need to be dealt with. If the Sim is runing on your system, just injoy it till the western version comes out.

Kuky, LOL you are 100% correct. 1680x1050 is what i should have said.

Ratel, yes my rig runs everything I throw at it at high settings. Lock on runs very smooth at high settings, and so does everything else I play.

Rather interesting this............

Is there someone (read some lucky bugger)/a Beta Tester that can confirm that BS runs smoothly on resolutions of 1680x1050 and above?

An impending upgrade will no doubt catapult me into the realms of resolutions above and beyond - a certain degree of certainty shall be comforting indeed!

Trimming impression

Hi all,

after spreading my rotary wings first, got some interesting exps. If this ain't the proper thread, me apologize, I didn't want to start a new one.

Any of you who started BS has any idea about the usage of the trimmer? OK, I use X52 which thing will never be real and looking fwd for urze's FFD joy mod, if my friend's Logitech Force3D Pro satisfies me. But trimming the BS this way is extremely strange.

I've started to do hovering smoothly if there's no change in heading. Maybe I'm wrong but trim the Ka-50 pedal with this method is way too far from truth. After a 360-degree spin w/o trimming, the helo started to spin back 360°. Why?

In Mi-24s, as I release the trim, AP will stabilize that attitude and the stick will remain in that position. That's fine, X52s have problems, FFB could be better. But on pedals there are "trim" buttons as well, so while I'm working with pedals, AP doesn't stabilize any heading. Finally, AP maintains a given heading (a given course, actually) only in "En-route" mode.

OK, this is not a Hind and I've never flown a Ka-50. And we also have difficulties to put buttons on our pedals; maybe Saitek stuffs are OK, but CHs don't. Switching off "NAPRAVLENIE" channel on AP isn't a real solution and the HSI starts to breakdance in this way but it's closer to the reality (I tried in hover only). Anyway, trimming the pedals with the stick trimmer... it must be a better method. Maybe I'll put "NAPRAVLENIE" key assignment on the X52 pinkie. Or on the rudder's additional axes. But this function is not a press-and-hold one... hmmmm...

Any suggestions, same or different impressions?

Thanks in advance!

There are no trim pedals in Ka-50. Trim button on the stick does the work for the pedals and NAPRAVLENIE channel of the AP. The good idea is to use ctrl-Enter key to get axes diagram on the screen. Using it you can monitor virtual axes position after trimmer button release.

One other thing I noticed, and Mark can perhaps shed a light on that, we both fly. When you get winds from ATC or the met office, they always give you the wind in a format like 270@7kts, meaning the wind is FROM the west at 7 knots. In the editor when I plan on some wind I have to use the wind pointer in reverse. Nothing major, it's been like that for years, don't like it though.

There was a discussion about this. In Russia, they do it the other way around. It seems they decided to let the editor use the Russian format (together with km units, etc.)
