Hello Hornet Team,

I have the problem that the Air to Ground Radar of the Hornet is very unprecise, and for example if you fly the instant mission Above the Clouds in Persian Gulf and you have looked the 2 Container Ships with the Radar then the JDAMs are always missing the target and are hitting wide away of the Ships.

Best regards

Working as intended by IRL radar producers who wanted more features for ads so they can sell more stuff. Use the t-pod for guiding munitions and the radar for getting a general idea where's what in instrument conditions, initial t-pod guidance or detection of moving targets.

Radar isn't supposed to be used to guide precise munitions.
It was mostly use in pre-GPS era to navigate. In MAP mode you can finde large objects like airfields or cities.

SEA mode you can use to program Harpoon missiles.

BTW are your target ships moving or stationary? If they're moving definitely JDAM isn't correct choice of weapons.

Actually, you can use our Hornet's AG Radar, especially when using the EXP 3 level,  to target JDAMs in the TOO mode. However, before designating a target, you must ensure that the aircraft system will use precise coordinates. In addition, I also change the coordinates format from minutes and decimals to seconds and decimals, but I am not sure if that is really required.

Of course, @Foka is right when writing that JDAMs are only for stationary targets.

Thank you very much for your Help Hornet Pilots,

now I figured out after a lots of tries what I made wrong:

1.  I designated the target in the wrong mode, the map mode of the AG Radar Radar, it is better only to point the unmoving Boot in this mode and then switch to SEA mode, so you can               real look the boot

2. I flow not long enough in the direction of the boot after the in Zone sign was to see in the HUD, better wait until it flickers like when you get shoot sign or wait for  minimum of 30

seconds after you got the In Zone sign in the HUD

3. It helps a lots of to know how a doopler Radar works and why you can t see nothing in the middle when you are flying straight ahead to the ground target 😁!

extra tipp for all which did not want to fight against the Fishbeeds with only  2 aim9l loaded : after you dropped the Bombs,  go to a minimum flight level of FL42 and they can t catch you because they are limited to their performace and low tank capicitate(would say it always helps to know the strengh of weakneses of your enemy aircraft, espeacilly old Migs and the first modell of the Fulcrum are weak in BVR ............)

Best regards
