I place it on the bug list and not the wish list, because the F/A 18 isn't playable for me on vr at night.

If you turn on the nvg you can see the terrain, but can't read any of the instruments. The brightness doesn't matter.

Perhaps, instruments shouldn't be easily readable with the nvg's. But, not readable at all, might be wrong too.

what's your VR setup, i can read the instruments; with NVG's its more "fuzzy" which is sort of what you expect.  have you also set up your internal lights to NVG mode?

Basically nothing in the cockpit should be readable outside of the HUD as it's infinitely focused. IRL you would peek beneath the nods to read things.

It helps if you of course set the cockpit/displays to night and adjust brightness and contrast as necessary. If you lean a bit closer you should be able to read the cockpit displays a bit.

No, that's how it's supposed to be. As Mobius said, NVGs have their focal distance set to infinity. You can check this yourself if you have a digital camera at home: set focus to manual and distance to infinity, then look through the lens at something close to you: it will be a blurry mess 🙂

P.S. IRL the HUD is also set to infinity, so if you want to look at your instruments inside the cockpit you need to give your eyes a moment to adjust as well. Obviously there's no way (yet?) this can be modelled correctly in a sim, regardless if you're flying in 2D or VR 😉

You can try my mod (or others) to reduce NVG size and look under NVG (they fill the display in VR, unlike in 2D) : https://forums.eagle.ru/topic/207154-3dmigoto-vr-mod-for-dcs-label-masking-color-enhancement-sharpen-fxaa-copypaste-of-radio-ms

I spend my time making 3dmigoto VR mods for BoS and DCS instead of flying, see https://www.patreon.com/lefuneste
