sLYFa Posted December 7, 2021 Posted December 7, 2021 We unfortunately have zero carrier-based assets from that era, neither AI nor flyable (not counting the A-4 mod). Perhaps a 70s-80s carrier assets pack would be something to consider alongside a 70s-80s carrier. 2 i5-8600k @4.9Ghz, 2080ti , 32GB@2666Mhz, 512GB SSD
_Hoss Posted December 7, 2021 Posted December 7, 2021 All the modern carriers from CVN-68 to CVN-77 are all Nimitz class carriers, if they have liveries, put the number on it you want. The Forrestal class is here now, same with them, CV-59 thru 62, There are two Kitty Hawk class, CV-63, 64, the Enterprise CVN-65 sits on the same hull, just different power plant, and two different island structures. I would like to see a light carrier of the Independance class CVL's done for the Marianas. And the great Essex class CV-9 THRU 47........ the Essex served from 12/42 to 06/69. So basically they only need to build one of each class and use the livery you want for your various needs. Hoss USN ret. Sempre Fortis
Uxi Posted December 7, 2021 Posted December 7, 2021 Enterprise hull is significantly different from the Nimitz. The lighting around the numbers means it's not a simple reskinning, unfortunately even without consideration of all the antenna and mast variations, etc. 3 Specs & Wishlist: Core i9 9900k 5.0Ghz, Asus ROG Maximus XI Hero, 64GB G.Skill Trident 3600, Asus RoG Strix 3090 OC, 2TB x Samsung Evo 970 M.2 boot. _Hoss Posted December 7, 2021 Posted December 7, 2021 Yes, the Enterprise is based off of a Kitty Hawk class ship, just had reactors instead of conventional power. There were two different island structures for the Enterprise as well. I was ships company on the USS Constellation CV-64, (Kitty Hawk class) two cruises on the Enterprise CVN-65, and ships company on the USS Abraham Lincoln CVN-72. I've been on the Kitty Hawk, America, Nimitz, Ranger, to get cross deck equipment, or to take it to them, I don't see the issue of which carrier you are going to use i.e. the Nimitz or the Lincoln, same class, so unless you have the entire Air Wing Complement of Air Craft to put on it with the correct squadron skins and all the correct side numbers, why worry about the number on the side of the boat.. This reminds me of conversations I've had on here about DECM and how it really works, not how it's modeled on here. pointless after awhile. LOL Anchors Aweigh and Fair Winds and Following Seas.... Uxi Posted December 7, 2021 Posted December 7, 2021 Enterprise was much longer than the Kitty Hawks and even longer than Nimitz. 4 rudders, etc, The square island was pretty distinctive even after the SCANFAR array was removed. Yeah ship names and perhaps even pilot names would best be dynamic and set in the ME. Have few to none of the older escorts for historically accurate cruises. 4 Specs & Wishlist: Core i9 9900k 5.0Ghz, Asus ROG Maximus XI Hero, 64GB G.Skill Trident 3600, Asus RoG Strix 3090 OC, 2TB x Samsung Evo 970 M.2 boot. Nealius Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 Simple solution would be a single generic livery with no ship name, no canopy names, static BuNo, and a dynamic modex for each squadron. Leave the hyper-detailed stuff for the skinners to create.
toni Posted December 13, 2021 Posted December 13, 2021 No thats not fair, a specific module for each Carrier class is the way to go.
toni Posted December 13, 2021 Posted December 13, 2021 A new USS Enterprise CVN 65 would be awesome as a SC module. 5

Truxtun, California and Virginia CGN would be nice, too. On the surface 36 class would be easiest; the Mk 13 is already modeled for the fig, 36 and 37 had one fore and aft, 8 Harpoons midships, and a pair of 5/54 guns. You can pretty much ignore everything else until and unless ASW is a thing, so the existing weapon systems on a new model. The 38 class, and the early Ticos, would need a Mk 26. I remember the Tico at NAV NORVA before we switched coasts; think the VLS Tico we already have with the twin armed bandits. The Long Beach, Tommy T, and Brain Damage all would need work done on weapons (guns and missile launchers) as well as the 3d model. If someone comes up with a Mk 26 the Ayatollah (Kidd) class become doable as well, given the Ticos re-used the Spruance hulls. Just a little window dressing on the existing VLS Tico model. Pre-VLS Spruance destroyers were pretty much targets. We sank quite a few of them in exercises. 1

Bananabrai Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 I still wish for deck crew on the Forrestal (and Tarawa, Invincible and future carriers, Enterprise would be awesome) I think it's ok to have the LSO station as well as coming features such as elevators, AirBoss and Briefing room as discrimnators/exclusives for the SC module. But the deck crew by now really feels not like an optional nice to have any more, but really necessary. One can still hope. 1 Alias in Discord: Mailman
