Killshot0597 Posted November 18, 2021 Posted November 18, 2021 After the update I opened the mission editor to make use of the new AAA features. I immediately noticed the much smaller range of the 8.8cm Flak as I had already arranged them to have intersecting arcs. I then placed an S-60 battery in the middle of the group of 8.8cm and notice the S-60 now has quite a bit more range. Picture below shows the 8.8cm Flak on the left with S-60 to the right.
ED Team NineLine Posted December 20, 2021 ED Team Posted December 20, 2021 Now add a KDO unit to the 88 group and you will see a yellow circle for it. 88's require the Kdo to be effective. 1 Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**

I don't think that it's what Killshot means. I think he's talking about the gun range, represented by the red circle, and which was decreased by a lot with the flak update.
ED Team NineLine Posted December 20, 2021 ED Team Posted December 20, 2021 Because it is reliant on the Kdo unit, the circles may not display correctly, I will have to check into that, but without the Kdo, as I said the gun is very limited. Northstar98 Posted December 20, 2021 Posted December 20, 2021 (edited) With or without the Kommandogerät 40, the range ring for the 8.8 cm Flak 18 and 41 are around 5 km, and around 11 km for the Flak 36 and 37. Not sure why the Flak 18 and 41 have only half the range of the 36 and 37, I'd expect the Flak 18 to have the shortest range and the 41 to have the longest (owing to differences in barrel length, which correlates with muzzle velocity). But the range rings do not depend on the presence of the Kdo.Ger.40, they're the same regardless of its presence in the group. ED Team NineLine Posted December 20, 2021 ED Team Posted December 20, 2021 I see what you are saying now, could be they got reset due to the changes I am asking now. Thanks. 57 minutes ago, Mad_Shell said: I don't think that it's what Killshot means. As I remember, the 18, 36 and 37 all have the same ranges, with the 41 having a longer range. To me, it would make more sense that the "engagement zone" showed where the effective range of the gun is, and would be nice if it changed with the addition of optical or radar assistance. Its especially important for the FLAK guns in that in some cases it might be better to use them in a barrage set up rather than tracking depending on conditions and available guidance from Kdo or radar. Anyways, as I stated, something seems off, and it might be related to the changes we made with Flak. 1 Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
ED Team Solution NineLine Posted December 21, 2021 ED Team Solution Posted December 21, 2021 I talked to the team about how these circles are rendered, and because they are 2D engagement zones, they are a rough estimation for middle altitude of the gun, it can be longer and shorter depending on the altitude of the target it is aiming at. There is not a good way right now to show that in DCS. Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
SignorMagnifico Posted May 5, 2022 Posted May 5, 2022 In my current testing, the gun range indication on the map for the Flak41 seems to be accurate even with the KDO40. The Flak37 is able to engage at further ranges and higher altitudes than the Flak41.
