How to make group template containing ships and statics

Recommended Posts

Hey guys. I want to make a carrier template that has my carrier group along with its support and static vehicles so I can place it in different missions. They take quite a long time to build and get right. Currently I have only figured out how to save the carrier group template but none of its support vehicles are with it

Thanks

You can save as "static template", and all units and statics linked to aircraft carrier will be there when you'll add it in a mission. But you will need 1 template per map.

hi thanks. however that's not what i'm talking about. i want to save my carrier and its static objects together so i can paste anywhere on the map. like if I want 5 carrier groups around the map or even simply moving them around.

or even pasting them on other maps. i want to save them as a group. can this be done?

I think it's the only way that can "match" what you need.

When you load a static tamplate of an aircraft carrier with its linked statics and aircraft, you can then move it wherever you want on the map (click an hold mouse button on aircraft carrier icon and move it, all linked units/statics will keep their position on the carrier). You can load and place 5 if you want. But you need 1 template per map as it also save position/path on the map so not compatible between maps. Here picture of the same static template of A/C loaded 2 times, 1 being slightly moved away.

A group template can only take units from the same group, impossible to include linked statics.

bummer about not being able to save a group with its statics. hopefully they'll add that in some time

but i didn't know you can load a template multiple times to have multiple spawning situations! i'll have to try that out. will unfortunately have to make a template for every map but maybe someone else out there can share their templates

@dresoccer4 I saw you have the helo on its own route. If you are using that as a SAR you can simply command it to follow the carrier. Saves a bit of messing about. If you play with the values contained within the Perform Task command "Follow" in the advance waypoint options you can place the helo whereever you want in relation to the boat. A Negative (-) interval value places it on the port side, a normal value places it on the right.

I attached have a couple of templates for the PG and Syria maps usinfg the supercarrier but they rely on a number of mods namely The EA6B Prowler, Military Aircraft Mod, Rato65 and Cowboy's Seahawk mods and the Navy Equiipment Mod (also Highwayman Eds Navy deck crew mod). Without you having these the Template wont load. The templates are based upon @fagulha's layouts which he kindly gave to me.

Ive also attached a couple of mission templetes that use Wrench's script to line up the carrier into the wind for landing and launch a recovery tanker.

Ive found CVW-17s 2002 cruise aboard the USS George Washington to be about the best full representation of a Carrier Wing to be gained from the user made and official skins. You can use the templete without but they are well worth digging for in the downloads section.
