I have had this issue several times.

Sometimes the George menu works as intended and suddenly stops responding and I can't interact with him at all, happens in SP and MP.

Any tip or workaround?

The only issue I have found is that sometimes I need to tell him to shoot something 5 times in a row before he actually fires off a missile. And I do wait like 10 seconds for him to do stuff. He says "Engaging" but nothing actually happens. Maybe I'm just too whack of a pilot though and he needs me to be stable for a bit.

Sup Nine, here it is.

I did a first try and George menu responded well (Aprox half way to the FEBA)

When I break left&right to overfly the friendly armored platoon knowing that the enemy is close I try to slave and the menu goes unresponsive, trying any action, change weapon, slave, unslave, whatever, doesn't work. That's when I drop a couple of flares to mark that moment. After a couple minutes later it starts responding again and I can lock some enemies, I drop flares again to mark that event.

Right now using George for me is pretty random, sometimes work, sometimes stop working and never comes back, sometimes it works intermittently like in this track.

Hi, 

I tried to check the track replay but it only shows you crashing twice and no George interaction. Is it the correct track?

Hmm... It's the correct track. The first chooper that disappears is cause I mistakenly went back to spectators, is the second one what does what I described. I'm checking the reply right now tho.

 

Anyway, I think I have identified the issue.

I'm using a modifier button in my hotas to both open the George menu with one button and interact with him with a 4-way china hat.

If I hit the modifier, open the menu and try to interact it doesn't work, like the modifier is stuck with that acion. If I open the G menu, release the modifier and  press it again I can use the menu option without problem. Looks like this was the problem.

No problem, you are welcome.

I don't know if this could be addressed as a bug and fixed, please. I have tried the Hind to check and you can open the Petrovic menu and interact with him without releasing the modifier with no problem, so I have unconsciously developed some strong muscular memory with it and that is what was driving me nuts with George.

The George AI menu once open does not need a modifier as that 4 way hat switch is now working only in the menu. 

Once you close the menu it returns to the cockpit functions you have assigned

I have my Stick-pinky button set up as a Modifier.

I binded the George-interface to a HAT-switch, with the Pinky-switch pressed.

The bug is that when I open the Interface (Pinky+HAT-depress), I cant use another function before a let go of the Pinky, and repress it.

I am unable to reproduce the issue with the modifier, for me it seems to work correctly. 

As mentioned above it is not necessary to use a modifier for the george AI menu, once open it has its own keyset, and again when closed you can use the same binds for other commands.

Yes, but I have Trim bound to my trim hat on the Warthog, and the George commands on the same hat, so you can't have the George commands open and re-trim at the same time? Looks like I will need to move one of them!

correct when the george AI menu is open those commands are used for the AI menu, and I agree it maybe better to move it from the trim hat.
