deadsmell Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 yeah well if you ask me, "the funnel" looks like the best way to get the most out of your rockets.? Oh yeah, theres also a part in that video where the pilot appears to intentionally go into a vortex ring state, and he spins the chopper into the spin to get out of it. Am i seeing that right? I cant see the instruments, so he may be desending at less than 3m per second, but it looks like hes dropping fast. Is that an effective emergency technique for vortex ring states at low altitudes. he spins down toward the ground, and just as hes about to hit, he bounces up and pops flares. Is he in a vortex ring? Thanks. Dont let the smell get to ya...............
EvilBivol-1 Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 The funnel is the absolute worst way to fire rockets. Rockets turn into the wind or, in other words, along your flight path. Since your flight path is about perpendicular to where your nose is pointing, the rockets will fly ridiculously off target. As for Shepski's crazy descent... it was pretty cool. :) Not sure if he was in fact in vortex or just made it look like it. WTG Mark! - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Feuerfalke Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 FYI, the Producer's Notes will also be included on the retail DVD. Yes, I know. But it's a difference between watching a movie over and over again, paying attention to every single detail waiting for the real thing, and getting the movies the same time you get the sim and therefore have the ability from the beginning to test the real thing immediately. I know that's no news to you, looking at the many questions you already answered, that are covered in the PNs, the FAQ-section and the QuickStart manual. Shepski Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 Hi, Glad you're enjoying my demo. I always had fun doing airshow routines in Flanker and Lock On and was messing around in the Ka-50 one day and put that together. I did get into the beginnings of a vortex ring state but used huge amounts of collective early enough to negate it and get some lift back. The helicopter wasn't very happy because I had a blade angle of 15 degrees at the bottom of the maneuver and the rotor pitch warning didn't stop for a while, but she held together. :) You can watch it entirely from in the cockpit if you want by pressing F1 but it will not replay the original views from that point on and you will have change the views if you want.
deadsmell Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 (edited) Hey dude, that was you huh. cool, great job. I'll get there. Last night i really felt like i crossed a threshold with my flying, im making major improvements. I even figured out that I can side slip out of a vortex ring state very easily as opposed to dropping the nose which is a good option for me. anyway great job on the demo! Dont worry, I will watch your demo countless times over the course of the next few years. Edited December 16, 2008 by deadsmell Dont let the smell get to ya...............
Lange_666 Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 I did only "cross"read this topic due to the lack of time atm but i do agree with the topic starter (and the others who back him up). One thing i did not see (or maybe it slipped during the crossread...:D ) is that it is not possible to stop and rewind or fast forward these training tracks. If you didn't understand exactly what was said (not everybody is a native english speaker) and got lost between the text and what was going on in the cockpit at the same time (one need to have cross eyes or drink lots of vodka), you have to sit through the entire training again just pick up where you got lost. Personnaly, i give up then real quick because it's a hugh waste of my precious time, sorry for the dude who put his time into all this. So i already quit on looking at these training video's.... ... now where can i find these Producers Notes....? Slayer Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 (edited) Forum link for the notes: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=32511&highlight=producers+notes The thing I liked about producers notes vs. training tracks is that you can quickly rewind from a media player, so if you missed something you can watch it a few times without having to watch the whole thing.
