Always has been since the F-117, otherwise someone can come along and woopsy daisies scratch some RAM coating off and take it away for mass spectrometry. Kind of like carrying away turbine swarf on the soles of your shoes in the late-40s.;)

SkateZilla Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 Interesting fact, all the F-35C pilots said that the F-35C is really easy to carrier ops, etc. Because of all the Automated Systems... Makes it tons easier.. the only issue the C ***HAD*** was the Initial design of the Hook, the other issues were related more with EMALS and AAG Problems, which just happen to be used to test F-35Cs Windows 10 Pro, Ryzen 2700X @ 4.6Ghz, 32GB DDR4-3200 GSkill (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR x2), ASRock X470 Taichi Ultimate, XFX RX6800XT Merc 310 (RX-68XTALFD9) 3x ASUS VS248HP + Oculus HMD, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS + MFDs

Kind of like carrying away turbine swarf on the soles of your shoes in the late-40s.;) It's pretty interesting really to see how far the security goes. I remember going to an event with my father (he worked jet engine test at an USAF base as a civilian.) when they were showing off the B-2, which was relatively new at the time. They had armed guards everywhere and there were clear warnings about the harshly violent consequences if you stepped over a freshly laid line on the ground. You weren't even allowed to take photos of it. They would hand stock photos out, and you could get the crew's autograph. I remember thinking that photo was the coolest thing ever. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
