AH-64D - Start as CPG - Not sure if here, or Missions Editor Forum

Hi All,

I know you can switch easily enough to the CPG at the start of a mission, but is there a way to actually start as the CPG in a Single Player mission I am creating for myself. I am probably missing some easy setting, but I just can't see it

Thank you

Toni

No, the CPG has no control over the APU nor the engine starters. You need to use the Pilot position for that.

I think the OP does not mean Cold Start the AH64D as CPG, but to "start" the mission (like spawn) directly into the CPG instead of spawning in the Pilot and then switching to CPG.

IMHO this should be under feature request. I would like to see it too, cause i like to test stuff in a Hot Start and when hot starting the AH64D with 0 forward speed you have to have your pedals already to the right  left or you will go into instant carousel. xD And sometimes i forget to turn up my power lever axis, so i will drop torque instantly when hot start... ^^

Another request is, that beeing able to fly the AH64D as CPG when Pilot has a disconnect. Currently you will automatically be set back to spectator which is a shame in mid mission. Also possible would be that George can take over the Pilot in MP.

Well it is EA and WiP 🙂

I mean start the mission, not the helicopter

@Kharrn sorry, did not see your message before I posted my reply to rudel

You are quite correct, the OP was referring to exactly that, starting in the CPG, not 'starting' the heli up

no worries and welcome 🙂

Guess it should go to "Wish List". AFAIK there is no option atm.

Even though in the Mission Editor you can choose for player controlled Paches something like "Pilot / CPG / Always Ask / Equally Responsible". Sry cant check it atm to be more precise.

It is one of the tabs where you also can alter the weapon loadout and so on. I experimented with "always ask" and "equally..." but felt no difference.

iiRC in the mission editor when you spawn your Apache you can click on those three points:

Scrnsht12_LI.jpg

And choose your start priority as a CPG or Pilot (not sure if it's implemented yet).

The option in that tab is to choose the control priority for multicrew, not the cockpit to spawn into in either singleplayer.  If set to Pilot priority, the Pilot will have priority for control in that he can take it back at anytime from the CPG, but the CPG must request to take the controls and the Pilot must give consent.  CPG priority is the opposite.  No priority means either seat can take the controls at any time from the other without consent, and Ask Always means that consent must always be given to give control to the other player, regardless of which seat has control.

@Toni Carrera  There is no way to spawn into singleplayer gameplay in the CPG seat, but all it requires is a button press to immediately hop into it, regardless of whether it is a Cold Start or Hot Start.

Thanks for the explanation, I wasn't sure about that since I hadn't tried it myself. Anyway, thanks for the correction.

OK, sorry I misunderstood your question. If the mission is of your own making, you can use a trigger action to move to the front cockpit before starting, this trigger:

X:COCKPIT PERFORM CLICKABLE ACTION, device 88, command 3002, value 0.

Set the trigger to MISSION START, so that you won't notice the cockpit switching. Here is a demo:

@Rudel_chw Thank you for the detailed information of switching by way of using a trigger. Off to look at your test.miz

Very much appreciate the time and effort everyone put in here and clarification and assistance

Thank you

Thanks, for me it was not that much time, as I have been recently toying with editing a Training mission for the Apache, and so I had the trigger information handy 🙂

An Apache update changed the crew keybinds, so the above command no longer works. The correct trigger now is:

X:SET COMMAND (1602)

AH64 - test.miz

Ahhhh thank you works like a charm..... now to figure out how to stop a player from switching back to the pilot seat or switching to the cpg seat if they are in the pilot seat lol.

For context it's for setting a specific role for a couple different SP missions i am making for a campaign. IE: training in the "bag" don't want a player swtiching to cpg to cheat or training in the CPG seat i don't want a player cheating switching to pilot and using george to target kinda thing.

Still trying to figure out how the X:start listen for command works as my original idea was set to cpg then listen for the command to switch seats and auto swtich them back to the cpg unless i can find a way to disable switching all together after they are put in the cpg seat

I’m aware of complete lists only for the UH-1 and the A-10C, here is the one on the Huey:

You're great @Rudel_chw!!!

So, i guess cockpit arguments for triggers are different from plane to plane (helo to helo)? Does i exist this list for AH64?

Thanks again!! 😀👍

I have not seen one. As you can see from the Huey example they are quite laborious to make, I have researched just a few of the Apache codes.
