Is it only me or is it only getting worse in my brain?

I fly the same mission in the Viper (selfmade mission) over and over again. completely insane...im at a 25k AGL and all at the sudden frames drop to 20 fps. im playing capped to 45 via OXR and tools on and it looks great and runs butter smooth at the next try. if i stay in the cockpit, sometimes its getting back to normal (fluide 🙂  )manily after alt-tabbing-out. Then i decent, strafing SA3 in deepest low flight....runs butter smooth again even while im rotating nap on earth.

Its driving me crazy, realy.

It's driving me nuts as well, but unfortunately this thread seems to be dead. Also I have a ticket open, but ED doesn't seem to be very aware of what is the problem. Since they are only reccomending the standard solutions, like removing mods, turn of msaa, do full repair etc (which btw did not work)

Falklands turning out to be double worse. I dont know, but i can not reproduce it. Sometimes it is enaugh to use VR Zoom to make it start...

so sad.

Today i flew a self made mission which yesterday i flew as well. Yesterday not a single stutter, today i had 6 times to tab out because of stuttering. Nothing changed, same cicumstances as yesterday.

Bump.  Still an issue, back playing after a break of a few weeks and it was just so frustrating, it makes me want to give up all together. Unfortunately I can't help with debugging, but gawd, a solution of some kind would be great, even if it's interim.  I really can't go back to track-ir..

Same problem for me, 3080TI & Intel i7 10700 using OXR without motion reprojection. Sometimes out of nowhere my FPS tanks from capped 45 to 12 for no observable reason. Some times it goes back after a while if i just keep flying, usually it fixes when i go out of focus and back again (click outside VR window or alt tab).

For me (3080 and 5800x 32gb ram) I solved the situation by lowering TEXTURES...I can leave terrain textures to high and that seemed to have solved the problem...apparently airplane textures etc take quite a toll on vram and I had it constantly happen in the cerberus north campaign which has a lot going on...lowering textures prevents me from running out of the neccessary vram

Are you referring to textures or terrain textures?

For me from patch to patch is getting worse and worse, from stable 60 over caucasus i got now stable 50 in Apache, i'm talking about flatscreen so this is global not only VR. There's nothing new graphical effects in the sim, and performance degrades.

I explained it here. lower textures, not terrain textures. That gave me enough headroom.

I had the same issue for months. Tried all tweaks and fixes out there and couldn't figure out what might've caused this random and sudden FPS drop. I thought it was DCS issue as it came to play right after the initial Apache update I also read that one of the causes might be ASUS Aura software I installed previously to turn off the RGB on my RTX. So I got rid of it but that didn't help. I got desperate and decided to reinstall windows. Before I did that i decided to find a possible tweak one last time. I found one of those "speed up your PC' videos on youtube where someone suggested using  bcuninstaller https://www.bcuninstaller.com/. Sure enough this thing found all kinds garbage of my PC including leftovers of the RGB software. I got rid of those and I'm happy to say, I haven't had a single hiccup for over a week now. Highly suggest you try it

Sounds like a heat issue honestly...

(from here)

If anyone wants to try, add below two lines to saved game\dcs\config\autoexe.cfg, and see if it works

options.graphics.Precaching.around_camera = 10000
options.graphics.Precaching.around_objects = 2000

Not even close. A heat issue wouldn't be instantly solved by alt-tabbing out and back into DCS, nor would it happen in the menus were the GPU load is super low.

I have the same problem I fly with any jet and as soon as I change mission I go from 60 fps to 15 fps in the next mission.
So I have to restart DCS and everything is back to normal until the next mission🤪

Agree on that but then mi-8 cockpit comes to my mind, which also seems like crazy complex.

Lod1 model of Hind not the main external model. First lod model that you start seeing after 80 meters has more triangles than entire Mi-8 model. Cockpit + main external. Cockpit of Mi-8 is super simple.

Mi-8 is one of the most performant and super optimized models that you can get in game. That model is primarily done for professional clients you would not want a thousands of dollars price tag simulator to stutter.

Yeah apparently I only read a few of the posts.  Just went back and re-read the whole thing and clearly it's not heat related...  My bad.

There doesn't seem to be a final resolution to this issue in this thread--it seems to have just died off. I can confirm that the problem still exists (and seems to be somewhat linked to high CPU usage states, like animations on the SC deck, or LUA files (e.g., AirBoss). I have been running an HP Reverb G2 V2 via OpenXR at 100% resolution, with reprojection and no FSR/CAS. I get a nice smooth 60 FPS and then when I hit the deck or the groove it drops to a steady (and fairly miserable) 22 FPS. About 30-40% of the time ALT-TAB x 2 will fix it, and the rest of the time it won't. It is also somewhat inconsistent. It is definitely not heat related (It happens sometimes within 10 minutes of me getting into DCS). It doesn't seem to be effected by FSR/CAS, Motion Reprojection, or resolution/scaling (I've tried about all the combos I can think of). Anybody out there still interested in this/have any ideas? Does this with OB MT and ST.

AMD R7 7800X3D/64 GB Cosair DDR5 5400/MSI Tomahawk X670E/RX 7900 XTX (I know, it's not Nvidia, but it does a vary passable job in VR and it was $600 less than a 4090...)

Yeah I was finally able to repro without reprojection. At least that rules one thing out.

I still have no luck reproducing with HAGS. Probably just masking whatever the issue really is on my machine.

For me DCS VR is unplayable if HAGS is ON. Terrible "tearing" and "double textures" when moving in the cockpit. No Difference if i play ST or the MT Version - HAGS is useless for DCS
