upyr1 Posted July 22, 2022 Posted July 22, 2022 Will the F-4 have a walkman or will I have to load up my classic rock and metal via an external player? 1

In the meantime you can use an internal player if you like. Dragon1-1 Posted July 22, 2022 Posted July 22, 2022 An 8-track would be just the thing, Walkman appeared in 1979, which is OK for the Gulf War Phantom, but not for Vietnam-era ones. 2

Heinlein Posted July 23, 2022 Posted July 23, 2022 (edited) ahh 8 track. I remember my grandparents had one of those and I used to find it so cool. That needs to be a thing with this module Edited July 23, 2022 by Heinlein 1
Fangs Out Posted July 23, 2022 Posted July 23, 2022 Would be cool though 8-track players are a little bit bigger than a Walkman. 1
r4y30n Posted September 2, 2022 Posted September 2, 2022 The Apollo boys had the Sony TC-50 playing cassettes in 1968 but I imagine they were out of the price range of your average fighter jock, about $150 at the time.

Translated to 2022 dollars, that would cost you approximately $1,275 1 PC: MSI X670E, Ryzen 9 7900X, 64GB DDR5 RAM, RTX 3090 Ti, TM Warthog HOTAS, Saitek Pro Flight pedals, Opentrack Link to my Youtube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/DieselThunderAviation Commander, 62nd Virtual Fighter Squadron Join the 62nd VFS today! Dragon1-1 Posted September 2, 2022 Posted September 2, 2022 (edited) Yup, par the course for a business-oriented dictation machine. In fact, they were sent up there in the first place to record spoken mission logs. Music playing was a side benefit. Fun fact, dictaphones were the original use case for the compact cassette itself. It didn't take long to be adapted up for music, but it was first designed to record speech. This is why it was so easy to record things on (which the music companies hated, because people routinely copied them). Edited September 2, 2022 by Dragon1-1 1
