Sharedgiraffe55 Posted August 3, 2022 Posted August 3, 2022 if you watch lots of ariel refueling videos when the boom is disconnected or the probe detaches from the basket you can always see a little cloud of fuel that sprays out and I think it would be a easy but realistic implementation to the already amazing sim. little clip if your unsure what I'm on about 11
Simultaneous Posted August 4, 2022 Posted August 4, 2022 Dude no disrespect but I can think of hundreds of other things that are a better use of ED's time than adding a white puff behind your cockpit (in the F16, F15 etc anyway) when detaching. BTW there isn't even one in the 2nd detachment in this video you shared. i9-11900K (Corsair water cooled); Z590; 64Gb Dominator 3466; Zotac Trinity OC RTX 4090; Soundblaster Z; Samsung 980 & 990 Pros; Pimax 8K X, 5K XR; Winwing Orion 2 F/A-18 throttle, Winwing Orion 2 base with extension and F-15EX grip (from F/A-18 grip); Virpil Warbrd base (2x extensions) with TM Warthog grip, TM Warthog throttle; Ace-Flight Rudder Pedals, Control Panel #2; NLR HF8. So it really doesn't matter. At all. 3 Де вороги, знайдуться козаки їх перемогти. 5800x3d * 3090 * 64gb * Reverb G2
Jagohu Posted August 5, 2022 Posted August 5, 2022 (edited) It could be ONE simple animation played every time there's an event S_EVENT_REFUELING_STOP - it should be simple enough. Edited August 5, 2022 by Jagohu 3 1

I just thought it would be a cool little touch since we just got the 18s gun sparks and yanno it wouldn't be to hard to implement. And I know there wasn't one in the second detachment coz it doesn't always happen that's why I used that video On 8/5/2022 at 9:13 AM, Jagohu said: It could be ONE simple animation played every time there's an event S_EVENT_REFUELING_STOP - it should be simple enough. Exactly and it would just add that little bit more of realism coz its always the small things that add up to make the game better. 3
Magnate Posted November 22, 2022 Posted November 22, 2022 I agree that eye candy like this is not a huge priority, but it would be nice to see the positive engagement of the probe in the drogue modelled, and also to see more realistic physics in the hose - make it appear a little less stiff. Still, I suppose that there's no chance of ED investing in this sort of effect with only 30% of players using VR (according to one ad hoc survey recently). For anyone playing on a flat screen these effects would probably not be noticeable in any case.
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted November 22, 2022 ED Team Posted November 22, 2022 please dont derail threads, stick to the thread title please. His wish is genuine and something I would like to see also, but I doubt it will happen any time soon. We have a feature request open for improving air to air refuelling and basket physics, so maybe something for the future. 2 Forum rules - DCS Crashing? That statement doesn’t make sense. It might make sense to a VR user. There's a huge difference in the refuelling experience when you make the transition to VR. So, although a 2D user would see some of the effects I've described, it would be less so than in VR and so the return on investment is lower. That was my meaning.

I don’t imagine the decision on improving the effects for AAR has anything to do with VR or not. 2 i9-14900KS | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO | 64GB DDR5 5600MHz | iCUE H150i Liquid CPU Cooler | ASUS TUF GeForce RTX 4090 OC | Windows 11 Home | 2TB Samsung 980 PRO NVMe | Corsair RM1000x | LG 48GQ900-B 4K OLED Monitor | CH Fighterstick | Ch Pro Throttle | CH Pro Pedals | TrackIR 5

I guess he's talking about potential stereoscopic fuel drops. We might as well remove the raindrops on flatscreens. I agree, this one of the most ridiculous things I've ever read on this forum. 1
Tank50us Posted November 22, 2022 Posted November 22, 2022 In theory it should be a simple little addition, given that many of the aircraft have fuel-dump capability already, and that creates a nice stream behind the aircraft. So in theory, this same thing could be done, even if it's just a simple and short particle effect. 2
