SU-33 - Heavy Sky (Campaign) - Various bugs and problems

Hello there!

I am doing the SU-33 Heavy Skies campaign, and I noticed a few bugs or problems inside it:

- Mission 14: My wingmen took off only while I was RTB, so I had to do the mission alone, and the landing was quite difficult, because the carrier was engaging targets, so he was moving as a snake on the sea (he does that every time he is moving and engaging targets, so it is true in other missions).

- Mission 17: Is it normal that the carrier has no light?

- Mission 19: The wingmen are staying on the carrier until the mission is finished... I had to do it alone and It was OK but I was finally killed by my wingmen who tried to enter my cockpit while I was RTB. (I laughed a lot yeah 🙂 )

- Mission 20: the loadout of the two front planes is two heavy to take off as the carrier is not moving, so I had to remove four missiles (R73) and go with only 50% fuel to take off. Wingman 2 tried to take off and died... I think the carrier should move a little 🙂

I stopped at the mission 20 for the moment, but I'll complete this report if I find some other strange behaviours 😉

Take care! ❤️

Hi @Ashayar. Thanks for such a detailed report.

  • I could not reproduce your issue with mission 14: my wingmen took off right after me. The mission is called "Assistance". Are we talking about the same mission? If so, please attach a track of the first 5 minutes of the mission.
  • In mission 17, the carrier lights are actually on, but they are not visible in such thick clouds (see attached picture).
  • Issues in missions 19 and 20 reproduced and reported. 👍

Hello!

Unfortunately, I had to delete the track files, my drive was full 😢 Butt the problem with the wingmen appeared on other missions, I'll tell you and attach a track file if I find this again 😉

My eyes may be too bad for the mission 17 😄

And... Thank you for your help! ❤️

You're welcome. 😀

It was not your eyes. I tried just once. I never saw the carrier and I hit the water instead. I guess the mission designer wanted to spice up the end of the mission. Let's hope the moving clouds will come soon.

@Ashayar Devs answered me about mission 20: the carrier is supposed to move, but there's not enough depth underneath it. I did a quick edit for you to resume the campaign.

1. Download attached .miz file.

2. Place it here: /DCS World.../Mods/aircraft/Su-33/Missions/Campaigns/ (or /DCS World.../Mods/aircraft/Flaming Cliffs/Missions/Campaigns/)  and accept overwriting.

3. Enjoy.

Hello there,

I am really sorry, but I have a stupid question: The "track files" are the .trk files recorded by the game right?

Is there a way to edit them to make them tinier?

Because I had another problem with my wingman not taking off on another mission 🙂

By the way, I'm on the 24th mission, and damn thos F15C drives me nuts 😄

Yes and no. It depends on what you want to do. TRK files start at the beginning and only play forward. So you can, for instance, shorten a TRK to only show the beginning by playing it back, stopping it where you want, and saving the shortened TRK. If you wanted to only show something in the middle or at the end, however, you’re SOL.

Thanks! I'll try to figure out how to do that 😉

From the DCS main menu, select REPLAY. Navigate to the track’s location (if necessary), select it, and click OK. Play it as far as you want and press the ESC key on your keyboard and proceed as you did when you first saved the track.

Mission 20 was fixed in today's OB update. The carrier is now moving (it was previously stuck in shallow waters).

Thank you very much!!!!!!! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

You're welcome. 😀 Thank you for bringing our attention to broken missions. 👍

I've just checked: mission 17 and mission 19 were also fixed. Everything should be fine now.
