walt262 Posted September 5, 2022 Posted September 5, 2022 Does anyone have the Track IR 5 sensor that is on top of the monitor plugged into the USB on the back of the monitor?

Mogster Posted September 6, 2022 Posted September 6, 2022 Yes. NP suggest not using hub ports (as most hardware vendors tend to do) but it’s always worked fine for me. YMMV. 1
virulosity Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 I am using a 4 port powered hub for all of my flight sim accessories mounted to my couch. Works fine 1
Art-J Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 I used to have my TiR5 pluggged to the back of my monitor and it worked fine for a long time... until one day it didn't. Was Windows update or other update responsible? No idea. Plugged it to the case then and it's been working OK ever since, so I never bothered with investigating this mystery further. Simply put - there doesn't seem to be a rule here. 1 i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
BitMaster Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Used to do that with my Asus screen and it is not reliable in my case but that is due to the Screen's USB hub constantly disconnecting after sleep mode and general random disconnections. I don't have my Screen's USB connected anymore for a long time but if that hub was ok I'd use it. When it worked it did so very well, just the disconns were a PITA. Bossco82 Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 If the monitor has a proper USB built in it should work just fine. on the flip side I know Track IR prefers a powered USB hub or a direct connection into the motherboard IO at the back. it all depends on how much power goes through the monitors hub.

I have a different experience. My TrackIR goes through an unpowered 4-way USB 2.O Hub, together with my Keyboard and wireless mouse connector. All works fine.
