Just ran the mission, flew over the ongoing battle (lots going on!) at ~1000', never changed, 90fps\10ms FT. Ran in 2D for giggles, 180fps\10ms FT..

Thanks, I will give it a look. I know @Ready has to use certain tools so he can work with videos, etc but I prefer to not run OXRTK as it won't work with my (MBuccia) Varjo Foveated API (and it's dead-ware and will no longer be updated or supported). I did like it a lot when I had a G2 though! I'll try and run your test mission in VR and 2D, see what I get..

Edit: That video was for DCS 2.7 and the attachment for maps is no longer valid... but if someone did the same with 2.9x it would be great. I am not fluent with the Mission generator.

I use Quad View Foveated Rendering in order to be able to use The OpenXR Toolkit, run the OBS Mirror for recording and see the OpenKneeboard inside my recording. It is similar to Varjo Foveated and can also be configured for focus area and peripheral etc. It still works and only has a tiny little bug that sometimes disable eyetracking when starting up. I notice this in the Hangar view and keep restarting until it is gone, which usually takes 1-2 times if it appears.

For your infinity fabric, what's your SOC voltage at when you tested stability? Higher SOCv can cause IF instability. Most chips should be able to do 2133 no problem; voltage above 1.2v SOC can make IF unstable.

SOC voltage is mostly used to stabilize higher memory speed; rule of thumb if you can do 6200 on 1.2v SOC there's a good chance you can do 6400 at 1.3v or less. If you can't do 6400 at 1.3v then just focus of getting 6200 stable at lowest SOC, it will effect your idle power consumption.

Mine won't do 2167 IF at 1.25v SOC but it will run all day ycruncher stable at 1.2v. Worth a shot if you want to min/max. Like i said, unless you have a potato of a CPU you should be able to do 2133 IF no problem.

Thanks I will check it out.

Yeah, I believe they made that a few years back but it's meant to be tested on the Multiplayer setup, have to find the video on YT. The "Plazma_torture" is a lot more demanding, but i'm locked to 90FPS on all of them (Textures increased to High).. May put some shadows back in, re-test.

That Plaszma Torture demands an aircraft I don't have. I tried changing it in the mission editor to an A-10C but did not get it to work.

Made a few modifications.

  1. BIOS
    1. Turbo Game Mode back enabled.
    2. PBO Curve -30
    3. Infinity Fabric 2166
    4. UCLK DIV1 Mode UCLK=MEMCLK
  2. Validations (to see if still in place)
    1. MSI Afterburner (check if auto starts with Windows) Clock: Core +150, Memory +1000, Fan Power Limit 95%
    2. HAGS ON instead of HAGS OFF (HAGS OFF reduces about 10FPS)
    3. Process Lasso - Main/Probalance OFF
    4. Windows Page File - Set manual to fastest SSD. Other drives OFF
    5. Windows USB Selective Suspend OFF
    6. DCS excluded from Defender (both the file and the process)

Interesting, I run with HAGs ON but depending on who you listen to, many say to turn  it OFF.. One thing, I read - "HAGS can cause performance issues with OBS and hardware encoders, so it is recommended to disable it when running OBS"..,

Exactly. I sometimes revisit previous settings just to see if things changed due to updated drivers/hardware etc.

I'm on 5800X3D 4090 Aero at the moment, really glad to see your strong results from the upgrade.

these bar graph results are from a 'stress test' scenario yeah? do you get 90 FPS most of the time in typical multiplayer servers?

The bars charts I create are usually about 20 seconds long averages. Can be all kinds of missions. The most recent ones are recorded on our own MP server, where I am in a cockpit of a cold A-10C. I run discord and an OBS recording on the side, which consume also FPS, just to get an idea of what my starting position will be. This for me is a good enough indicator because I just focus on the delta between two settings.

This way I can compare two settings every 5 minutes or so. This morning I did about 10 changes in an hour. It takes quite some time closing stuff, rebooting, changing BIOS settings, booting(BIOS posting sometimes can take up to a minute or more with the BIOS changes), starting Windows, VR applications, OBS, DCS (sometimes I have to restart DCS a couple of times to get my eye-tracking to work), run the test, look at the results and adjust settings and deciding the next change to test (I keep a script/log with changes/progress). Once I am happy with the optimizations of all the settings I changed, I will run some stress tests to see the numbers over a longer stretch like 10 minutes or so.

As these can get out of date, e.g. there have been changes to textures in the game that won't be reflected here (don't know the consequences) there is also this script you can run to optimise your current latest textures.

Thanks! But that looks complicated. Or not? Does this need to be done after every update? Seems to be a lot of work for an improvement that is not clear to me (yet).

So far I did not notice any difference. But I am not really accustomed yet to the Apache, so I won't really notice much yet.

Complicated on first setup, yes. I see it has changed a lot since I used it with my old card, I just used to use the vanilla script there. The improvement is that DCS releases new and modified textures and base files. If you use the Taz optimised ones then they will be out of date with what is used by the core game, so may potentially have unexpected issues, e.g. using older files which have since been replaced. Was just a heads-up in case you see problems and that you should repair the game to get the correct files again.

Sweet.

Keep an eye, or I guess "ear", out for audio glitches. Ryzen error correction on IF is very strong and it will often not straight up crash, but build to a crash and often manifests in audio glitches.

Wilco. So far the audio is fine now. I have another issue though..

My DCS is showing some strange behavior. Who knows what is going on?

When I increase my FPS to the max I see bucket-shaped FPS drops. When I lower FPS they disappear.

So far I tried disabling Overclocking, HAGS, QVFR, OXRTK. None have effect.

Hi, I have just completed a fresh windows and dcs install in preparation for new VR1 Headset arrival.

During some 2D testing, simple one airplane sat on runway cold, I am seeing a repeated spike in Frametime and CPU Busy.

This pattern is seen no matter what changes I make to DCS or PC.null
