Effect that makes it unplayable is both eyes image lagging-shifting while rotating or moving head. This sometimes happens without FPS drop on the FSP counter. Next day I tested it and it looks like there is a large frame drop when simply moving head even in the start screen/menus. Image lags in stutter-like manner.(not sure how to describe it correctly) This is probably not classical stuttering,I think, image does not pause, instead image doubles and goes off center very fast. Well, shifted image might lag, I don't know for sure. my system: Mobo: MSI B450 tomahawk max CPU : Ryzen 3600 RAM : 32GB ram SSD : 1TB samsung(for DCS) GPU : Asrock RX6950xt (previous GPU GTX 1080ti) PSU : 850W gold plus VR : HP Reverb G2 things I already tried with no success. -dcs cleanup -dcs repair -removed fxo and metashaders -Low DCS settigs and lowest pixel density -reprojection on, locks frames but very low FPS(in ST repojection seems to not work at all) -reprojection off-effect extremly pronounced but higher FPS 60-90 in DCS initial screen. -Set headset frequency to 60Hz -various Open XR tool settings(prefer framerate over latency on/off, latest preview openXR on/off) -tried xr companion app-doesnt work(or crash MT),(in ST it doesnt show menu-it doesnt work) -various "solutions" on DCS forum regarding stuttering in VR. -AMD SAM on and off(resisable BAR/SmartAccesMemory) -various AMD Adrenalin software settings, from default to all off or lowest. things to notice: -I had no issues like this on Nvidia GTX1080ti, I had really good gains in performance in MT. (only xr companion app would not work or it would crash DCS MT so I disabled it.) -Reprojeciton worked on Nvidia ST and MT -This does not happen in other games I tried(MFS2020, Spaceengine) -I Instaled new gpu using DDU(meaning previous drivers are thoroughly removed) -I instaled new chipset drivers I did not update bios jet. Video was very hard to record, it was recorded at 60FPS(smartphone camera). dcs MT VR AMD problem.mp4

dcs.log-20231019-172633.zip Attached my logs. I get a crash right when I start up MT via Steam using "play MT preview". Please help. I normally play in VR with my Varjo but I do a lot of ME so I need to be able to run 2D also. Thanks. I should mention that running MT with my Varjo (VR) works fine with no problems.

I am trying to track down a really weird issue i have had with dcs in the last week or so. I am asking how I would inspect the logs/debug/where to look to find out how i can resolve this issue. Only happens in MP not sure if it happens in ST but happens in MT. Single player is fine nothing wrong. Is there a better networking debug i can see? I seem to have a 0.02% loss over the time I play. Happens with all A/C seems to be worse going from f-10 map back to cockpit but it is litterally random when it happens, altough last two times it happened after a missle was fired at me. PC config: mobo: Z790 tomohawk cpu: 13700k (small undervolt to keep temps down 0.050mv) RAM: 6000MT Corsair 32gb NVME: 990 pro GPU: 4080 TUF Issue: Random pausing. Frame times randomly jump to 8-45 seconds. Breif: Had a gpu driver crash last week which cause kernal hangs. No crashes after fixing but the DCS MT MP randomly had long frame times. Installed: DCS OB latest with MT, Scripts: dcs export script for my mfds, scratchpad plus, SRS Mods: Just some Airframes requires for MP server. Step taken to try to resolve: 1. DDU the drivers and clean install. This fixed the black screen crashing of games. 2. Updated Bios, Motherboard drivers, Drivers, windows 11. 3. Removed any scripts i wasn't running (like scratchpad etc) removed from the lua startups etc 4. DCS repair, clean. 5. Removing fxo, metashaders 2 6. Replacing network cables. 7. Turning off SRS,VR in the settings. (i was seeing some 100's of messages from SRS in the log not sure it made a difference). Anything else i can try or logs i can see what causes these pauses. People on the server say they don't experience it so i am thinking the mp server is OK. Thanks!

Hello. This problem appeared after latest updated of MT a few days ago. A few days ago I noticed that there's no any progress in loading of my mission but after pressing alt+ctrl+del when there was an information that DCS doesn't work, at background it started to load really fast and there wasn't any problems. But the same situation was every time I wanted to load my mission. I also tried to start new mission in mission editor on Caucasus - the same story. After a few times, alt+ctrl+del didn't help.So I uninstall all mods - the same problem, then I repaired DCS with extra files - the same problem. I uninstalled DCS, installed totally once again. And it helped for a few times. The same story independently if I have mods installed or not. No Nvidia Experience or settings. New DCS installed yesterday, it worked even good so I installed mods, it worked good too. Now it doesn't work with or without mods. - i7-13700K, RTX3080, 64GB Ram, 500GB SSD only for DCS (cleaned totally after uninstalling the game and before installation). - latest drivers of everything My profile with thread about this in DCS group on FB: https://www.facebook.com/groups/193255800800445/user/100000542554941 I also add dcs.log (the latest) with mods installed. Anyway as I said, independently from mods, it doesn't load in my mission and in mission editor. I can launch dcs, I can't launch any mission. Any ideas? Maybe Norton? Is it possible to uninstall the latest update to check if it works? dcs.log

I noticed that in DCS Open Beta 2.8.3.37854.1 in VR the Motion Reprojection as Auto (automatic) doesnt work (OpenXR). Before this patch it was worked without issue. Here could be a reason why some people noticed strange stutter or have impression FPS downgrade. As default OpenXR works as Auto Motion Reprojection. So if someone hasn't touched it and doesn't know how to check it, they see a characteristic stutter and report problems with operation in VR and it's just that the automatic function was somehow disabled in this patch. Now what I see with AUTO I have 90 fps and in other situation not 45 but something in between. Looks like new issue for me. Id like to have to check also Always ON, how it works now, didnt have free time too much, maybe Today.

DCS does not start in multi-threaded mode when using Oculus Quest 2 virtual reality glasses. The runtime is set to Open XR in the Oculus Link app itself Additions to the game shortcut in the form --force_enable_OpenXR, --force_enable_VR do not help In ST mode, the game starts without any problems in the helmet. In MT mode, it starts on the screen but not in the helmet. DCS Multithreading F.A.Q Users who want to test the new multithreading version of DCS can do so by following the steps described below. Multithreading contains some known issues, but we will gladly receive reports. Please make reports as full and clear as possible that are reproducible. Also, please send crash information using the automatic send-crash tool, if possible. Launching Multithreading DCS For the standalone version from our eShop DCS: You can find the new folder "bin-mt" in your DCS / DCS Open Beta main root folder where you have installed DCS. i.e. "D:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\". To launch the multithreading version, navigate to the "bin-mt" folder and launch DCS.exe from it. i.e. "D:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\bin-mt\DCS.exe". For your convenience, you may want to create a shortcut for "D:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\bin-mt\DCS.exe" on your desktop. Be advised that the DCS launch shortcut that is automatically created on your desktop after DCS installation will launch the DCS updater from i.e. "D:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\bin\DCS_updater.exe". You may have gotten used to the process where you launch DCS and it checks for available updates before launching the game. If you make a shortcut for the multithreading version (i.e. "D:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\bin-mt\DCS.exe") then this shortcut will launch DCS, and it will not check for updates before launching the game. For STEAM users: Use the Play MT Preview in launch options. To do so, right click on DCS World Steam Edition in Steam and select PLAY; you should see the below pop-up. What is multithreading (MT)? MT is a programming technique that allows multiple threads to exist within the context of a single process. A thread is an independent path of execution within a program, and MT allows a program to perform multiple tasks concurrently, improving its performance and responsiveness. However, MT also introduces some complexities, such as thread synchronization and resource sharing, which must be carefully managed to avoid issues such as race conditions and deadlocks. Why am I seeing no to little performance gain? There are several reasons that could account for this. One of the most common reasons for lower-than-expected performance gains is being GPU limited. Whereas MT can greatly improve CPU efficiency and resulting performance, most of the graphical rendering elements are still reliant on the graphics card. To check this, play a mission and press Right Control + Pause at the same time to display your performance Frame Per Second (FPS) and rendering information. If it indicated GPU BOUND, your graphics card is holding back the maximum possible frame rate that the CPU can provide. MT is most effective in large missions with many units. In small missions with a limited number of units, CPU calculations are not a gating performance limit. As such, you may not see much of an MT performance gain in small missions. Older CPUs will not benefit as much from MT as more modern CPUs with a greater number of cores/threads. Please be sure that you are using the current Open Beta and that you are using the DCS.exe from the Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin-mt\ folder if using the standalone version. Controls HOG PLUG is enabled. Please ensure that that HOT PLUG is disabled from OPTION / CONTROLS tab. You may not have appropriate BIOS setting for your CPU. If you have 32 or less cores, please ensure that HT/SMT is enabled. If you 33 or more cores, please disable this. If you have Vsync enabled in OPTIONS/SYSTM, uncheck the box Are there any known issues that I should be aware of? As an initial test version, yes. NS430 inoperable. Not in 2D neither 3D Sporadic stuttering in 2D and VR Ka-50: IT-23 display is colored. Supercarrier: there is no picture on LSO displays Display issues with a limited set of VR devices Dedicated server doesn't start automatically first time after update, hoster have to launch server manually by clicking on “start” button for mission or server itself in web GUI Motion Blur causes blue/black 'fog' (in single-thread only) Invisible player aircraft sometimes Cockpit tooltips AH-64D Instant action Persian Gulf - animator.dll crash If you notice other problems that you'd like to report, please visit: Multi-Threading Bug Reports (Temp) - ED Forums (dcs.world) Why is MT currently optional? As MT is a complex addition to DCS, we have made it optional for initial public testing. Once fully tested and working well, it will be enabled by default. How long will MT be in preview? It depends on public test results and feedback; we will keep you all informed as things develop. What is the maximum number of threads the game can utilize? About half of P-cores are dedicated for the graphics needs. Currently the rendering pool scales up to 16 threads on P-cores (1 core = 2 threads). The other P-cores are used by the main logic thread, sound engine threads, and the auxiliary thread pool that occupy all available space. E-cores are used only by the resources streaming pool that has no limits (1 core = 1 thread). Will VR and flatscreen have an equal performance improvement? MT is agnostic between a 2D monitor and VR. Both will see the same proportion of improvement. Note that VR is in general more demanding so you will see lower FPS than flatscreen performance given the higher rendering overhead. Will performance be improved for people currently bottlenecked by their GPU? MT may not help with performance if you have a GPU bottleneck. This is because the GPU is responsible for rendering and processing graphics, and it operates independently of the CPU. So MT may not directly improve GPU performance, but it can help to improve overall application performance by offloading non-GPU related tasks to separate CPU threads. Are there any downsides to MT if I have a CPU with few cores (Like an old quad core)? While MT can improve performance on a CPU with multiple cores, it may not provide significant benefits on a CPU with few cores. In fact, it could even lead to decreased performance in some cases. Will the dedicated server also be multithreading? Currently, the dedicated server is ST. MT dedicated server should behave exactly like ST one including performance because the game logic is still running on a single thread. If you have issues with performance or anything else, please make detailed reports for us to review. Will I be able to play on MT servers/large missions that I couldn't before? You should see improvement in larger missions, but mission designers should still consider unit count in any mission they create. Overloading a multiplayer mission with units will result in loss of performance. Will MT and Single Thread (ST) be updated separately or updated at the same time? You can update DCS in the usual way. Can MT and ST clients join the same server? Yes, MT and ST users can play on the same server. Should I enable HT / SMT in my motherboard BIOS? Currently, users with more than 32 threads should disable HT/SMT, but for everyone else we recommend enabling HT/SMT. Can I expect more bugs with MT, and can they be reported the same way or do I need to do separate reports for MT and ST? MT is a very complex addition to DCS, we have done a lot of testing but you may see issues we have missed. If you do, please report them on the forum bugs section. When reporting issues, please make it clear that you are using multithreading by either by adding “MT” to the title or in the topic itself. I have not seen any improvement what can I do? If you are not seeing any improvement in performance, please make a forum post with your dcs.log dxdiag and a track replay example in the performance issues forum section. How can I launch VR in MT? Same way you do now but using the bin-mt/ dcs.exe with the added launch parameters. ( example "C:\DCS\bin-mt\DCS.exe" --force_enable_VR ) Steam users will have a MT VR option in the launch pop up. Or try starting in 2D and enabling VR in the DCS VR tab, then restarting DCS. Experiencing a crash on first launch of MT DCS? If anyone has an early crash when starting MT DCS and sees almost empty dcs.log file with/without the stack, it would be great to get additional CPU information from such user. 1. add mt.lua to Saved Games\DCS\Config\ mt.lua 2. launch DCS 3. provide Saved Games\DCS\Logs\dcs.log attached to forum post 4. remove mt.lua

reported MT - RWR Stopped working against SAMs after a while
falconzx posted a topic in Bugs and Problems
happened during tests trying to reproduce the bug, so before the bug occurs i turned on and off RWR and changed settings several times. Then it became blank except for A/A threats. track attacched. RWR stopped working on SAMS.trk -
Was playing on the throught the inferno server on caucasus, when i in my f-16 i pulled a few g's which made my screen from only the cockpit view stretchen and zoom in until it went away about 20 seconds later. This was on the MT version and openbeta standalone. There is a video file attached of the bug. DCS.openbeta 2023-03-10 19-22-06.mp4

It seems like one or the other. Perhaps there is a thread or process contention happenning. here are symptoms: MT DCS triggers Steam FPS VR to crash. If one is open before the other, it causes the other to crash. 1) if fps vr is open, then dcs is launched fps vr crashes 2) if dcs is open (MT) and fps vr is opened dcs crashes without error log etc looks like some sort of contention for resources, that triggers reload of the vr/hmd? no error log is generated. a restart of steamvr can occur sometimes 10700k/4090/win10/ Plazma1945

No MT plus SSAA 2x at 1080p resolution, vsync on. With MT plus SSAA 2x at 1080p resolution, vsync on With MT plus no SSAA 2x at 4k resolution via DSR, vsync on. You can see that the FPS drops. So it should be with SSAA because SSAA and DSR have practically the same performance. Remembering that the DCS with MT I had a gain of approximately 10FPS in that same mission. DCS without MT, vsync off. DCS with MT, vsync off.

Hi, Just tried the multi threading for the first time. I had mixed results. framerate is good until I turn my head. no other obvious problems. I enclosed a track that shows the issue. the edges of my view are blurred. Here are some tracks: first MT in Anton-2.trk first MT in Anton-3 w-FR.trk first MT in Anton-1.trk I tried a slow repair, and cleared the fxo and metadata folders, it did not help. by the way, in regards to the many crash reports I have sent in the last week or two, the game has started fine today 4 times or more

Made quick tests on HP G2. MT version crashes immediately with SteamVR. It works with OpenXR though but only when reprojection is set to auto. When setting reprojection to AlwaysOn it freezes right after menu load (required to be killed). I think those are two separate problems. Hi, I have a done a forum search and cannot find any other posts. Anybody getting FPS spikes in the AH64? I get really good FPS but am getting FPS Spikes/drops every couple of secs say from 110 down to 60. This is of course causing a little lag pause. AH64 appears to be the only module I am getting this in.

I have a Problem which I have been able to recreate where whenever I merge with another player specifically in an su-27 / 33 the aspect ratio changes back and forth from my native to something really small maybe like 720p (I'm playing in Full screen). I have tried to recreate it while turning hard or fallowing friendly planes and an enemy su25 but it only seems to happen in the above situation consistently. Cant recreate problem in single player with Ai su-27 or 33. I have a video of it and I will post it in this thread when it uploads to YT. I should mention that I'm playing with MT on. I also asked other F-14 players in the server (Tempest) if they have had this problem and one did say it happened to them yesterday. -Thanks for any feedback Specs -Ryzen 3600 -Rx 5700 -32GB Ram dcs.log

DCS crashes on launch I was able to avoid the crash by going into the BIOS and changing the amount of active cores to 1 instead of all, changing back to the default amount causes the crash again. All of this was done after renaming the SavedGames/DCS folder, Running a cleanup and a slow repair. Same topic as the embedded one (it was created before this section of the forum was created and was requested to post it here). Crash dump hangs and is unable to generate a working zip. Uploading it anyways and the attempted repair of it. List of Attempted steps: Renaming SavedGames/DCS folder CRASH Disabling all mods CRASH Cleanup and slow repair CRASH Enabling/Disabling Hyperthreading CRASH Making sure processors aren't limited by msconfig CRASH Updating windows and all drivers alongside BIOS CRASH Repairing windows image and running scannow CRASH Setting the amount of Active cores to 1 !!NO CRASH!! Uploading Additional MT.lua log files. @BIGNEWY@Flappie@NineLine Requesting Merge with: dcs-nonMT.log dcs-MT.log DCS Single Active Core.log DxDiag.txt dcs.log-20230311-221943.zip rebuilt.dcs.log-20230311-221943.zip DCS-SINGLEACTIVECORE-MT-LUA.log DCS-MT-LUA-CRASH.log

Last time I flew DCS was a week ago. Today I updated to version 2.8.4.39313. I am unable to enter DCS MT in VR mode without the menu freezing after a couple of seconds, or without being able to enter the menu at all. The loading screen before entering the menu freezes at 30, 40, or 100% at random times. I tried the "normal" version which works fine - with its known performance limitations. Please see the attached log. I've deleted the shaders folder, fxo., metashaders, done complete (slow) repair, deleted options.lua, and configs folder. dcs.log dcs.log

Something new. Today, after the new patch for OB MT, we flew in multi. After some time, all smoke (from fires), smoke from chimneys and cockpits covers began to flicker. Everything about turned into such black flickering textures. Everyone who was on the server saw them in the same time (so it was not just one case). I have the impression that this concerned transparent objects/textures.

Hello. With the newest OB-update, I am no longer able to access Syria multiplayer maps due to crashing, presumably because of lack of memory. All other maps are fine, and utilizing about 50% of memory, while Syria uses around 98 until crash. Pagefile is adjusted to 32GB (32768), and I've done a repair and removed mods folder. The images named RAM Cauc/PG/Syria are made in the mission editor with clear skies, and a single A10A flying from A to B. Image "High RAM" is an attempt to fly on the "Syria Rotorheads" MP server. Same results in Grayflag. In previous OB-versions I have been no where near these values. I've set preload radius to around 80000, but I have not had any issues running it with 150000 in previous versions. null dcs.log DxDiag.txt
