Training Mission at Syria for the Mirage F1

Hello,

I have edited a few training missions for the recently released Aerges Mirage F1, as the built-in training wasn't close enough to the procedures of the real aircraft and lacked voiceovers, which diminishes immersion. Also, the built-in missions are set at the Caucasus Map, a place where the F1 never operated.

As some players don't like to perform the check steps of most procedures, I designed the missions in such a way that you can skip some parts, like the Checks, or the taxi and shutdown on some of the missions. For the voiceovers, I used a synthetic voice witk british accent ... it is certainly better than my weak english.

Mission Installation:

 

The file is a zipped OvGME-ready file, to be installed on the same path as the built-in training:

..\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\Mirage-F1\Missions\EN\Training\

 

 

on this way, you can choose between the built-in missions, or mine:

 

 

This should not affect the Integrity Check in any way, but if you prefer not to mess with the standard DCS install, then you can extract the .MIZ file and place them wherever you like. Fly them using the MISSION rather than the TRAINING menu of DCS, like this:

 

 

If you find a bug or want to comment, please don't do it on the DCS User Files section, as it will not alert me about it. Instead, provide that feedback on this Forum thread

OK. I think I know what the problem was. I downloaded the standard relase of the game, now that I installed the Open Beta version I have access to the cockpit which I couldn't do before.

Yes, I'm currently working on a gunnery training (air-ground gunery) mission, the first mission on a group always takes the longest for me to edit, after that I wiill use it as a basis to create clone-missions for rocket firing and bomb delivery.

After that I'd like to edit a mission covering the use of the radar, I had leaved it for last to give more time to Aerges to finish all the radar details.

Also, once the EE version gets released, I'd love to do an air-refueling and  an INS Navigation missions

Thanks a lot for your kind words, I must admit that I got a bit derailed during the holidays, but I truly intend to return to the Mirage F1 over the next week and edit some A-G weapons training missions for the F1, at the very least a strafing gunnery, a rockets firing and a bombing mission, tough if the EE gets released soon I may derail a bit onto an Air-Air Refualing and an INS Navigation missions first

I started the start-up tute mission last night. Before anything else - I'm on stable 2.8.1.34667

I was unable to get past the VOR part, after tuning the set to 114MHz. I changed the frequency multiple times, as well as other settings and put them back to the right ones again to see if that would trigger progression, but it didn't and I had to give up in the end.

I did notice a few grammatical errors but I guess you won't be too bothered about those.

 

**edit - I remember now, I was also unable to speak to ATC, though this may be a sim issue as I think we all know how unpredictable ATC is. I ran a quick start mission after this, and set the radio and was able to get ATC (also in Syria), so I don't think it was user error. In the tute I just progressed with spacebar.

Hi, thanks for the report, I will check it tonight and report back. I’d love to know also about those grammatical errors, as english isn’t my native tongue and I’m sure some texts are not clear enough

Sorry for the long time that I took fixing this   .. real life got in the way.

 

I checked the mission today, but couldn't find any error on the VOR tuning, it works on my DCS without issue ... but examining closely your image, it looks like you have only turned the MHz knob to 114.0 ... but have not turned the VOR receiver to ON, that's why there still is a yellow highlight there (the knob's highlight dissapears once you tune 114) .. turn the concentric knob to M (Marche = ON)

 

However, Aerges did change the way the Throttle is moved out of Stop and into Start, nowadays you have to simply click on the Throttle, so I took this opportunity to correct that part of the mission, so my checking was worthwhile after all.

 

Regarding the ATC, it does work for me .. maybe you have DCS set to Easy Comms?  .. I fixed that eventuality by forcing the Mission to employ standard comms irreespective of the User's Options.

Thanks for the kind words .. I know that It seems like I've abandoned these F1 missions, but I actually only took time to update other missions of mine that I had done for the JAS39 Gripen Mod, that were rendered obsolete with the recent v1.8.5 release of that Mod .. I finished those last week and so I have now returned to the F1.

I want to do an INS navigation training mission, but it seems to me that proper use of the Autopilot is kind of a pre-requisite for easier Navigation, so I started to do a training mission for the AP ... however, this mirage system has so much functionality that the Mission was growing onto a very complex and frustrating mess

So, today I took a page from @baltic_dragon F-15E book and decided to break the complex mission in two simpler missions: one for the AP basic functions, and a separate one for the two more complex ones. And that small change suddenly made all the difference and in a few hours I was able to finish the first part:

 

 

 

I'm now confident that the two remaining AP functions (Radial Intercept & Glideslope intercept) will be able to be much more easily tackled on a second Mission, as soon as it's finished I will add them to the set at User Files

No Sir, Thank you! I have a very good idea of the time and effort that  these "little" projects require, and you do really good work across multiple modules!

Hi,

Cold Start has stalled on "retract mirrors for increased performance." I think the cockpit value probably changed on you, I cannot progress after 2 attempts.

I tried a click on the mirrors, the "M" key, and pressing the spacebar (despite no prompt).

I'm a bit embarrased for not adding more training missions to this set, but the release of the F-15E derailed me a bit. Hopefully I will return to the F-1 soon
