antiload Posted December 20, 2022 Posted December 20, 2022 The cluster JSOW A seems to be really bugged again. There is little damage to even light or no armoured vehicles or assets. Also the bombs are not accurate, I've tested with little wind & seem way off target, usually hitting the same places in multiple tests. I also cannot seem to get them to release weapons singerly in one pass. Please can you look at my track files - Much appreciated/ AGM154A test 1.trk AGM154A test 2.trk AGM154A test 3.trk 2
Hobel Posted December 21, 2022 Posted December 21, 2022 (edited) When there is no wind, the AGM154A is very good at destroying an SA-2TR. with wind however from 3-6 m/s the whole thing looks different, but whether that should be so I can not answer but If you know which direction the wind is coming from, you can adjust the TG point. Moonshine Posted December 21, 2022 Posted December 21, 2022 (edited) strangely it is a GPS guided (glide)bomb and should it not like the 103 and 105 should adjust for wind? Edited December 21, 2022 by Moonshine 1
DukeAngus Posted December 21, 2022 Posted December 21, 2022 the AGM-154a has the blu-97 submunitions which are the same as the cbu-87 but the AGM-154a only contains 145 of the blu-97 were the cbu-87 has 202 blu-97 long did you let the INS align for? if there is drift with the INS in the viper will there also be drift with where the weapons go when released?
Moonshine Posted December 21, 2022 Posted December 21, 2022 (edited) the question is more; does the AGM 154 also incorporate the same guidance system like the WCMD 103/105? assuming due to its larger stand off range it should be even more affected by wind along its flight path so some system to make the needed adjustments must be present. of course it hits bang on with 0 wind, but 5-6m/s wind should not be the reason why you dont hit anything anymore Edited December 21, 2022 by Moonshine
antiload Posted December 21, 2022 Author Posted December 21, 2022 (edited) I'm flying in the F18 Tbf, the effect of the weapon just seems to be very low. It looks great but minimum effect. I don't think wind in my examples plays a significant part as I got the same effect without much wind, just a light breeze. I'm no weapons expert, but i'm pretty sure it used to be a lot more effective. Further testing would suggest that the accuracy of the JSOW's is off. Both A and C variants. It appears after further testing, only AI flights are firing inaccurate JSOW's.
Flappie Posted February 25, 2023 Posted February 25, 2023 I used "Bombing" action instead of "Atack Map Object", then removed wind: 3 units dead. AGM154A test_fix.trk ---
Rosly Posted July 16, 2023 Posted July 16, 2023 Have the same observation. The wind does something strange to JSOW bomblets. Even small wind cause huge difference in effectiveness of the bomblets, They hit the target but the kill ratio is different depending if there is a wind or not. Very strange.
