Voyager Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 Will be interesting to see how it plays out. I wonder if this is part of how nVidia is planning to handle the end of Moore's Law, and the likely need to transition away from monolithic does past 3nm? The thing is, if nVidia is successful at gaining real optimization improvements via AI, we could see the same from AMD, and they've definitely got a lot more room to grow here too. This is going to be fun to watch

BitMaster Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 It's astonishing they are that far with AI. I could imagine that being a great help for developing any code. Lange_666 Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 If AI can deliver a 30% performance boost, real programmers should be able to deliver at least the same boost because they wrote the AI code in the first place. 1 Win11 Pro 64-bit, Ryzen 5800X3D, Corsair H115i, Gigabyte X570S UD, EVGA 3080Ti XC3 Ultra 12GB, 64 GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600. Sure, it would just take far more time and never happen before next driver release and thus be obsolete before born. More developers is not the same as 1 entity of AI that is faster and won't have to have meetings and Zoom calls to get things done. 1 Gigabyte Aorus X570S Master - Ryzen 5900X - Gskill 64GB 3200/CL14@3600/CL14 - Sapphire Nitro+ 7800XT - 4x Samsung 980Pro 1TB - 1x Samsung 870 Evo 1TB - 1x SanDisc 120GB SSD - Heatkiller IV - MoRa3-360LT@9x120mm Noctua F12 - Corsair AXi-1200 - TiR5-Pro - Warthog Hotas - Saitek Combat Pedals - Asus XG27ACG QHD 180Hz - Corsair K70 RGB Pro - Win11 Pro/Linux - Phanteks Evolv-X

Better to think of AI as a more effective way to run monte carlo processes to useful conclusions. It really solves different problems than conventional thinking. Problems where you don't know if there is a solution or what it even might be like, but also have a very easy to define "better" as really good things to sic an AI on. The tricky thing with programming is probably going to be defining the rules that the code itself needs to follow, though I can also see how image quality evaluation would also have some big subjectivity questions that would need answering as well. Quack or 3Domak03 2.0 anyone?
