Kenan Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 1. I can't for the love of God, feel the vibrations when I'm inside the cockpit. This just simply sucks! Will the next patch fix this??? 2. The sound of clicking and switching buttons is clearly..what's the word..uhmm..generic, yes. Generic! If you listen very carefuly, you can tell that not all switches have their unique clicking sound like we expected them to have. I pray the upcoming patch fixes this as it really kills the immersion factor. 3. The modelling of Ka-50 30mm gun is seriously flawed, I dare say scripted. Have you noticed while firing it, the spent cases never hit or bounce off the chopper while simultaneously making hard turns and banks? Did the guys who created this sim thought we were some amateurs and wouldn't notice this??? And please, I can provide a TRACK as a proof so this is not just a baseless claim! 4. The way the infantry soldiers hold their AK-47 or M16 is laughable. His finger is actually resting ON THE TRIGGER all the time!! Hello!?? The basic safety rules dictate unless you're in a firefight, finger off the trigger and in BS, it seems to me all those little guys missed their Basic Combat Training. I'm really worried before I get them with my 30mm they're gonna shoot themselves in the foot and bleed to death. 5. The trees and branches will not bend if I fly/hover near them. I understand the creators of this game had an official explanation as if..something along the lines..the winters in Russia are so hard the trees are frozen solid, thus not move, blah, blah...but I don't buy it. Especially at Gelendzhik, near the sea the temperatures are not that low and this shouldn't be happening. 6. There is no fish. I saw liveleak videos of Afghans dynamite-fishing one of the lakes. I wanna have that feature available in BS, otherwise those Vikhrs are just a prop and the whole theater should have been moved to Nevada desert instead. Makes me sad seeing all of that potential under my pylons wasted.. 7. There are no raindrops on the canopy. I can't fly rain mission without it. It just kills the whole experience, pokes it in the eye and knocks it unconcious. Please, don't get this as a rant. I just want to see BS improved. Thank you. 12 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Commanding Officer of: 2nd Company 1st financial guard battalion "Mrcine" See our squads here and our . Croatian radio chat for DCS World
haigotron Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 The real Ka-50, also had a cup holder for the pilot's morning coffee (vodka?)...i dont know why it was omitted... or maybe im thinking of a later model ka-50?
Frostie Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Some great points brought to the front. But these points were all brought up by the Charlie Testers during development but they got dismissed in favour of rotors that 'flop about' in the wind, dust protectors and smiles on insurgents faces, im, as you can imagine outraged. FADM Stern GNSF Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 I think to make it realy "realistic" the developers should make the game "erase" itself and block the person ever playing again after getting killed...... cause how can you play when your dead ? While the idea of watching someone fishing with dynamite is cool (for some i guess), I am glad they spent their time on making the helicopter actually FLY Try the Rest, then Join the Best

I am glad there is a game out there where the problems a person has with it are so minute compared to what people wanted one, two, three years ago. Fish, seriously? How often do you spend flying your helicopter underwater? Following your note, I would love to see rainbows...why did BS not think of rainbows when flying with partly cloudy skies and rain? Ridiculous! I hope you were joking with this post! Otherwise, please prepare yourself for the flaming that will commence. BS - Thank you for thinking of almost everything! I am still constantly surprised about the detail of this game. If making the bullet casings fall straight down saved some FPS instead of modeling multidirectional paths, than thank you. If not modeling fish saved some FPS since I never see myself flying under water, than thank you. If using the same clicking sound for switches (OMG) saved some FPS/development time, then thank you. If the AI holding their AK strangely saved development time since I only see them for the split second it takes me to kill them (at a great distance), than thank you! Etc, etc, etc!
EtherealN Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 I have to say an OMGYES to that cup holder. Can't expect me to fly a long morning mmission without some good coffee dammit! EvilBivol-1 Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 (edited) As we've mentioned in the past, what ED is able to implement really depends on the availability of internal resources. Currently, they are already hard at work on improving the engine in a number of directions, including real-time physics modeling for falling 30mm casings that accounts for wind drift and turbulence, as well as dynamic cockpit switch audio. Unfortunately, the bending trees will have to wait until ED can further develop their "VEGGIEFLEX" foliage engine, which is currently under development. Finally, ED is currently conducting a study of the various fresh water lakes found in the combat region in order to collect accurate data for the sub-surface marine life modeling coming up in "DCS: Revenge of Ramius." To be honest, I so so so SOOOOO hope ED makes enough money on the DCS series to be able to expand into subs. Haven't been a good sim of modern subs since I played 688 on the Amiga. :( Also, Revenge of Ramius is awesome! EtherealN Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 But seriously, when thinking about it... Imagine a future where on a DCS server one side is flying attack aircraft and the other side is controlling the actual naval task force that they are attacking... Mmm... TBH, a FAC play mode would be awesome as well. Or perhaps just make DCS and Harpoon multiplayer compatible! :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
FADM Stern GNSF Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 I would love to see DCS make a submarine sim as well. I was a 10 year 688 player, and became a sim addict because of it. I played Sub Command (which i hated) and now play Dangerous Waters (which Im also am not to fond of) and spend most of my play time either playing Falcon 4 AF or Ghost Recon (for the quick kill FPS fix, which lasts about 20 min, then back to realistic flight). If DCS made a sub sim with the detail they put into Black Shark, it would blow all the others out of the water (forgive the pun). I guess the big issue would be how much data was available (as the US are pretty tight lipped about their subs, even the aging LA class). Boy, its sure a nice thought though :-) Try the Rest, then Join the Best

ericinexile Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 I'm sorry to say this but Black Shark is NOT realistic, and this is why:... Finally a little humor. There's enough BS on this forum the game should be called DCS:BS (oh wait...it is). yes, I've contributed my share.:pilotfly: Rep points incoming (can be refunded at Starbucks for a fee Latte--just pay the $4.25 Hot Liquid Handling Fee). Frederf Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 I know this is a joke but Shift+J allows the "jitter camera" so you sense vibrations and I very much do wish raindrops would be shown on the windshield (mud and snow too) the windshield wipers are so lonely now. The downdraft moving trees/grass would be neat to help spot hovering helos too >.>
