Barrett_g Posted April 11, 2023 Posted April 11, 2023 For some reason none of the warbirds have chocks. I’d like to replicate this old training video from WWII: 3
razo+r Posted April 11, 2023 Posted April 11, 2023 I've tried to ask for chocks a rather long time ago for all aircraft, but it got ignored so far... 2
Brigg Posted April 11, 2023 Posted April 11, 2023 (edited) dont get me wrong they would be nice to have, however there are more important things that need either fixing or adding with all aircraft first. at the end of the day you still have a parking brake for a reason Edited April 11, 2023 by Brigg

Not a game breaker I admit, but I'd love to have these, especially when they're already implemented in some other ED-produced modules, so the code is already there. Brigg Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 (edited) I get that not every plane has a parking brake so maybe the priority might be higher for them. But for the 47 the priority isn't very high imo as things like oil dilution, back up iron sight, pilot headrest first imo Edited April 12, 2023 by Brigg
virgo47 Posted March 2, 2024 Posted March 2, 2024 (edited) Oh yes, please. Of course, it's not critical, but I've noticed that WW2 manuals for P-47 instruct not to leave the parking brake set "under no circumstances" (EDIT: this is cold weather procedure to avoid freezing.). Chocks would make a lot of sense. Also in current P-47 videos, you see the chocks used and removed just before the taxi. Slippa Posted March 2, 2024 Posted March 2, 2024 After two years of learning to fly the allied props I recently ‘converted’ to the 109. And it’s chocks! Yavol, ve ave chockzensplittenz. (Translation may be inaccurate) While not a game-breaker to find them AWOL around the Spitfire etc, it is an enormous oversight and, speaking as an Englishman, a damn poor show, most unacceptable and really ought to be put right in short order my dear fellow. ”Chocks away Sir” I heard when starting my shiny new installation of my DCS’ Spitfire. Followed by a ten minute unfruitful search for said articles or how they’d operate. More than two years ago that was. I’m sure I’ve seen pleas for these in multiple threads since then but it won’t stop me adding my twaddle to ask for them here too. It can’t be a lot of work can it, a set of chocks? I mean, the more glaring omission for me is a bloody ground crew, trolley accs and bowsers, never mind the chocks but for now, we’re just pushing for the chocks. Maybe if we start adding the codes “F-18” to any posts regarding musty old prop birds and their fixes we may get some attention? Yet another thread a couple of days back had my head shaking again. “My F-18 has a graze on her knee and a tummy ache” gets an emergency response team on the scene in seconds, has not one but two consultants within 6 posts who operate there and then and the patient’s all better within half a day. I’m posting a bit tongue in cheek but the prop stuff seems to barely get answered at times. I’ve bought the F-18, F-14, F-15, F-16 too but I love my Spitfire, my Jug, my P-51 and my Mossie, I also have the 109 and the 190s but like I said, I’m English, so can’t love those on principle, though they’re done really well. Come on ED, a couple of chocks for our allied musty birds? They don’t even have to be red like the 109s. Pretty please. 2
