If you rename the thread, could be a good place to have all naval livery requests.

More logical to wait until the actual variants are decided upon and go from there. At which point an official thread will get started anyways.

If the J/S end up being the chosen variants, then expect skins based on the timeframe/build first and then some circling around of other options. The J could be an early 70s J and not initial production, could be a "Super J" which straddles between J and S upgrade, or an S. There were not as many Navy squadrons that operated the S (briefly VF-74/103, 21/154, 151/161, RAG, and Reserves for a few years), but there should be a solid number of Marine squadrons and stretching even into the 90s.

If a later B or N is also done, that again shifts the skin options around (such as the B in the post). Not much point starting request threads when the variant hasn't been finalized, as B/N skins on a J/S model should be more of a community skin thing.

If the S gets the nod I will of course be doing VF-201 and VF-202, to go with the F-14A skins I will hopefully have perfected by then.

VF-201-Hunters-012.jpg

Significant of course as VF-202 performed the last trap of an F-4 on a US Navy carrier.

VMFA-112 were also at NAS Dallas with VF-201 and VF-202 as a Marine Reserve squadron, so I will naturally do their F-4Js and F-4Ss as well

They were the last Marine F-4s as well, so another significant squadron/skin I'll take care of. (this from '83 or '84). They finally transitioned to F/A-18As in 1992.

The Virtual group I make liveries for is most likely going with VMFA 321.  Reserve Marine unit that flew F-4S till around 1990.

It was already a problem that they put a Navy skin on an E, but there is a special hell reserved for them doing VF-202.

A very special hell? The one they reserve for child molesters and people who talk at the theater? (referencing Firefly for anyone not aware...)

Yeah... Navy liveries look really janky on long-nose phantoms.

Back to the topic at hand, VF-143's unusual red F-4J liveries are some I'd like to see.

That very same hell indeed.

There will be plenty of time to put Navy skins where they belong, on Navy jets. Though the B/N may get left out technically speaking at least a J/S is a better place to slap those than an E.

Whenever that time does come for boat jets know that the core J/S skins will be done and with the absolute best effort possible to capture markings, helmets, crew gear, and the right weathering levels. Tomcat is still #1 for me, but better believe my enthusiasm for the J/S will be far above and beyond all the time put in trying to help research the E, and I've put almost as much effort in there as I did F-14 research.

I dunno, these RF-4B's would pretty much only fit on the 4E because of the nose.  It's highly unlikely we'll be getting a reconnaissance version and the gameplay isn't really there, but i think they look kinda cool.  Wasn't expecting to find long nose Phantoms ever operating off of carriers but there you go.

If i remember my development correctly, the F-4E nose was developed from an RF-4C nose suite since they would have needed to lengthen the nose to house the gun and other mechanisms. so outside of a few other differences an unarmed F-4E would be a "decent" substitute for an RF-4C
