I would like to know if the development team is working further to improve the explosion VFX and ground damage of bombs. The graphic effect present is not bad, but I think it is a bit standard for all the devices available. The damage and smoke that an MK-82 causes is different than an MK-83 or a GBU-10. Is it possible to get information about it?

Effects of all sorts are slated to be looked at, GA (who makes many of our wonderful videos) is always pushing the team for better effects, explosions included. I don't have any solid news, but you can almost guarantee seeing them in an ED video before you see them anywhere else. Thanks.

Yeah I hope we can improve a lot of that going forward for sure.

I hope that one thing that is worked on is a proper nuclear explosion effect, and not just for the Mig21s nukes, but also for sufficiently large explosions such as those from the larger bombs like the Mk84 or MOAB (if we get it with the C-130), or for triggered explosions in the ME.

An example of the latter would be if I set up a Tu16/H-6J to launch a cruise missile at a target area, and once the missile reaches a specific area, you get a large explosion reminiscent of a nuke going off.

Ok thank you for your reply. I know you are a key person on the DCS team and I am sure you will further represent this need to the development team. It would make the simulator much more realistic, take it as a suggestion or as a starting point for improvement.

I think large explosions yes, but we have no plans to support nuclear explosions, this has been a long-time choice, 1) the moral conflict of nukes that we don't need to get into, 2) the gameplay value of them is fairly low (Ralfidude's fun vids with them aside).

I'm perfectly agree

NineLine still hasn't given me your confirmation... can we count on your support to represent the topic at the development team?

Actually, the "mushroom cloud" can be produced by any sufficiently large bang, heck, you see them all the time at airshows when they let loose with the pyrotechnics. For example:
Jet truck explodes at Michigan air show
(Airshow booms)

MOAB, the largest non-nuclear bomb ever used by the US military, explained - Vox
(MOAB test)

I can certainly understand the aversion towards nukes however, I'm just showing that some of these bangs can be caused by non nuclear ordinance, and in the case of the latter, that's about the limit I'd go for with large explosions. Although one effect of such a bang I'd like to see one day in the future would be the EM effects on the aircraft that are susceptible to them when one goes off, or someone sets off an EM weapon (which do kinda exist, and are used to test equipment against EM pulses)

Yeah thats why I said a large explosion sure, but Nuke effects not limited to the explosion one be done.
