Yeti42 Posted June 27, 2023 Posted June 27, 2023 (edited) The one type of question I see asked most in these forums is "When will <insert functionality here> be implemented? It would be good to have official roadmaps for modules that give at least an idea of when something will be implemented, if at all. I suspect this would negate the need for a lot of questions and wasted time in discussions. I work in the software industry so do realize how much of a challenge having a roadmap can be, priorities change but it's always useful to have a target for something and a way of prioritizing dev workload. Roadmaps shouldn't be static documents and can change over time, it would give the community a better idea of what to expect and when (give or take 2 weeks... ) - Discuss Edited June 27, 2023 by Yeti42 Grammar Windows 10 64 bit | Intel i5-9600k OC 5 Ghz | RTX 2080 |VENGEANCE® LPX 32GB DDR 4 OC 3200 Hotas Warthog | Logitech G Flight Rudder Pedals | Track IR 4
draconus Posted June 27, 2023 Posted June 27, 2023 You won't find any dates or ETAs if that's what you meant. Here's official ED roadmap: Here are official 3rd party subforums, so you can see what is actually in the works: https://forum.dcs.world/forum/35-licensed-third-party-projects/ Here's unofficial roadmap for DCS: Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria

Not giving fixed public dates works best for us, most people understand the complexity of what we are doing and understand we will share news when we can. We do have some threads like for the F-16 and F/A-18C that lists what we are working on, and colour code what has been complete, but we will not give timelines. thank you 2 1 Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Yeti42 Posted June 27, 2023 Author Posted June 27, 2023 It's not really an actual date I'm after, which quarter would help, the threads in the forum are informative but they're not a roadmap. To be honest, DCS's dev schedule appears a little ad hoc from the outside, flexibility is great but you do need targets and a roadmap for functionality, especially as there are so many products on early access. Sorry but as mentioned if we give any timeline and have to change it we get slammed by some in the community. Sharing news when we have it works best for us, we know it can be frustrating however so please dont think we do not understand the need for more information, we do. thank you 2 Forum rules - DCS Crashing? nickos86 Posted June 27, 2023 Posted June 27, 2023 (edited) @BIGNEWYWhen you share a roadmap, change it along the way and inform the community when doing so - you don't get slammed. Communication is KEY. You get slammed when you don't communicate... For instance, up until not so long ago every one was upset because you haven't updated the SC module. You showed pics of the ready room but months later - nothing happened. Only AFTER you've explained that you must have VULKAN working for it to be implemented properly - people understood what's going on. Keep us in the loop with changes you’ve making... We're getting that things might change along the way. It much more frustrating to be kept in the dark. Edited June 27, 2023 by nickos86
