George AI Pilot automatic reaction to threats or AI CPG threat audio warnings

Controls for interaction with George are very good, I can oder a break, I can take cyclic/collective control etc..., but playing CP/G I thought at some occasions that an automatic reaction to threats detected by him - evading maneuver - (mostly incoming missile from MBT/IFV/APC, but also salvos of tracers) would be nice.

George detecting an optical guided missile for example could trigger a strong break by default, but a lateral translation if I'm lasing for a hellfire.

I'm not certain it's a good idea (it has certainly drawbacks), and maybe it's better to only have the player induced controls we already have, but I think it could be helpfull.

Perhaps ED already has something in the oven for this that I missed, but I really hope that at some point George AI would provide the player with some sort of information when George spots enemy activity. Something that would help the player get a better situational awareness.

And I don't mean like the endless "Contact enemy armor 10 o'clock for 8" call-outs that are currently being made by wingmans in DCS, but a bit more "informal/lifelike" like crew members would advise each other irl. Something like "tracers at 2 o'clock!" or (more difficult to program I reckon) "I see movement at 8 o'clock near that tree line". Of course it would be most useful if George AI (PLT or CP/G) would tell us to check his LOS (as in telling the player to switch his ACQ source to GHS (or PHS when the player is in the CP/G seat).

In terms of trying to find enemy targets, right now I feel very alone and vulnerable in the Apache 😋. Would be awesome if George would actually help out in spotting at least some of the threats.

I posted this here, but in fact this wish is applicable for all multi crew modules.

(I know, flying with a human crew member probably provides an unbeatable experience, but not all of us have the luxury of time on our hand for these kind of DCS sessions, where a certain level of commitment is needed towards the person you're flying with)

Great idea! Would be awesome if AI George could be more alive and communicating.

Big +1!

So often I have my head buried in the TADS searching for targets, when suddenly: "Missile!-missile!"

George PLT AI should definitely (more or less instantaneously) react to this, instead of me having to wake up, find my key bind to switch back to PLT seat, try to recover the helo (because trim somehow always gets reset) and only then try and start evasive manouvers.

I never proposed/wished for this feature myself, because I kinda assume ED is working on this already

Am I doing something wrong here? I dont really ever use any George controls, I just fly out to the target area, find a good spot, get it in a stable hover and jump into front seat. If I need to move positions I jump to back seat, move, then jump into front seat. The problem is if we start taking fire whether its guns or a missile, George does not react or evade in any way. He just sits there and lets us get shot. Its nearly impossible to switch to the back seat, get it under control because its never given back to me the way I left it, and evade in time. Is this just a limitation?

Yes, this is a limitation with George as PLT.  I'm not sure what we can expect from him in the future, but your best bet right now is to take control from him (while still in the front seat if you want) and get your ass out of there.

Ok. I didnt realize we can fly from the front seat.

Maybe like many others, I use the apache to fly to the target zone and then switch to the CPG Seat...

It would be great, if pilot George would respond to enemy attacks, using countermeasures against incoming missiles, hidding behind Trees / Obstacles...

He feels too safe behind the thick armored glass... there is no need to react when casual calibers are used against the Apache but just laugh at the puny tries to down an Apache with everything smaller than 30mm:

...but he should at least fear missiles. Probably he is one of these military experiments where the Amygdala was removed so George is not able to feel fear and sense of self-preservation.

I agree with this.  I fly the Apache a lot, but always from the front seat.  George is currently little better than a glorified autopilot for me; I would really like to be able to rely on him to try and save our bacon when coming under fire.  Maybe with a press-and-hold keybind to "maintain course" to suppress his evasive behaviours when you *really* want to get that shot away 🙂
