yes they are.  and I'm not too proud to admit, it took me a way long time before I realized that's why I wasn't moving!   fail one for me not reading the change log prior to playing the latest update.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Did you close the canopy? In that case set the Intercom selector to Intercom in order to be able to communicate with the ground crew, and ensure that the battery is on. Or simply open the canopy again. 🙂

Are you spawning on a friendly airport (blue coalition airport for a blue coalition aircraft)?

Yes you were right has to be with the canopy, weird. I dont know the reason. The logic said also you can talk with the ground power even if the canopy is closed, right? I dont know the sense.

It's a gameplay decision. I believe as soon as the pilot is strapped in, the crew chief will talk to the pilot through the intercom system, which the crew chief is plugged into with a long cord allowing him/her to walk all around the jet. Both are wearing heavy duty hearing protection for when the APU and the engines are started, and there's always a chance of nearby noise sources like other aircraft spooling up, taxiing by and taking off at the airfield.

But it sort of makes sense that the pilot might be able to talk to the crew chief without intercom as long as the canopy is open.

So in the DCS A-10 and with the canopy closed, players have to make sure to properly use the intercom, or they can't communicate with the ground crew.

Ground crew. 😉

"Ground power" is a term describing electric power provided to the jet by a ground based source like a mobile generator.

How IS the intercom turned on?

When I just ran a test, the position of the Intercom Rotary Selector Dial had no effect when calling the ground crew to place or remove the wheel chocks. The only prerequisite seems to be to turn on the battery (that is, the ground crew responded to me with said dial in the INT as well as the default VHF position).

In any case, you'll find the Intercom Rotary Selector Dial on the Intercom Control Panel on rear part of the left console.

Was your canopy still up? 😉

Last time (was before 2.9.6) I needed to turn the dial to "Intercom" otherwise I got no response from the ground crew (with my canopy being closed). So I don't know if this has changed in the meantime.

IIRC, you can contact ground crew on any working radio or intercom once the canopy is closed.  However, the only radio that works on battery power alone is the UHF (ARC-164? dangit, I always forget the stupid numbers) radio
