Hello i need advice. I enable the 2FA for my DCS account in order to test the Afghanistan map.

So i scanned the QR code available on my DCS profile, with Google Authenticator.

I see a new entry 'digitalcombatsimulation...' inside Google Authenticator on my phone.

But when i try to log in my DCS account, the DCS website reject the code generated by Google Authenticator.

I tried several times.

I opened a ticket to ED support team and they gave me recovery codes. I was able to disable 2fa authentication on my DCS account. Now i am able to log in without 2fa authentication.

I don't know what is the problem.

My question : as my DCS account is linked to my email (Outlook email), do you know if the 2fa is also linked to my Outlook email address ? In other words, Can I use "Google" Authenticator when the email address registred on my DCS profile is a Microsoft Outlook one ? Could "Microsoft" Authenticator be the best app in my case ?

Thanks for your help

Sorry for my English, i am french ...😂

Hi, your 2fa is done using google authenticator ( if you use that one ) its not linked to your email.
It should work, I have 2fa on all of my DCS accounts.

Thank you BigNewy for your reply.

Still not working with Google Authenticator code.

Instead,  i use Microsoft Authenticator, and it is Magic, the 2FA is working for me during the authentication process to DCS website 👌

I do not want to use any Google app. I do not trust them to keep my phone number private. They routinely collect and sell personal data so their 2FA app can get stuffed. Please give us an alternative.

You can use any other 2FA app ex. Microsoft Authenticator.

Did you read the post above your?
You can basically use any, even opened sourced which won't store any of your personal info.

Cheers!

How? The only option that the DCS website gives me is Google Authenticator. It doesn't show me anything else.

I'm with you. I don't use Google's authenticator. I have an issue with their terms and conditions. But you can use any 2FA authenticator. What devices are you using, and we can suggest a few for you if you want.

It's a suggestion. And I have complained before to ED that they should change the text, and NOT suggest Google.

@NineLine @BIGNEWY

About time to change it now, ain't it?

Hey guys!

I'm going to go slightly off topic with this post, but I need help with FreeOTP and my account.

I used FreeOTP as an app for dual factor authentication to log into the ED website; unfortunately, my phone fell and bricked, it's totally unusable.

I installed FreeOTP on the new phone, but I have no idea how to configure the parameters to access the ED website and I can't use a QR code, because I can't enter my account on the website without a token!

What can I do? I'm locked out of my account! (and, yeah, I know, I should have foreseen this problem and use the backup function of FreeOTP... I'm a moron!)

Hi,

you can email support directly using the same email on your DCS account and the team will verify you and disable 2FA so you can add it again.

Email (no login required)
support@digitalcombatsimulator.com

Secondary Email (no login required)
eagledynamics.service@gmail.com

When support has disabled 2FA, and you enable it again. Save the one time codes on your computer. I think you're asked. Then, next time you can log in with those codes and add the new phone without needing support.

Cheers!

Every time I try to enter a code for a trial I get the message.  I've tried 4 different authenticator apps with the same result including google.  The URL is correct, I see the ED logo in the app, and the username fritzgryphon is present in the apps.  What is going on here, are there any common causes or solutions for this?

I've turned off my ad blocker, I've tried chrome, firefox and edge but I either get this error message, or sometimes no error message at all.  I've tried entering the code with and without a space in the middle.  The trial never shows as added in the website module list or in DCS itself (trying to trial CH-47).  Put in support ticket.

I get that you can exploit the trial system, but maybe this stuff should just be for accounts that have no paid modules because this is ridiculous.  I can't even log into the website without disabling 2FA on a browser where I'm already logged in.

SOLUTION:  Support advised to check Windows clock settings.  The time was correct, but I enabled "automatic time zone adjustment".  The next attempt to authenticate a trial did work.  It may be necessary to have "automatic time zone adjustment" enabled (?) to successfully request a trial.

The code you entered was not valid. Make sure you are entering the correct code for this site from your smartphone app. The code will change every 30 seconds.
