Hi folks,

I have a really strange shadow bug since 2.9 and only when  enabling DLSS in VR, when moving my head at certain angles.

Switching to any other upscaling mode or disabling upscaling altogether removes the problem... along with the large amount of FPS I gain from DLSS.
Changing any other setting does nothing.

Anyone else seeing this?

My system is a lowly i9 9900K (5ghz), RTX3080, 32GB RAM, Quest 2 via link cable.

Hi, please disable SSS and report back.

thanks

@BIGNEWY I've just had the most mind blowing, shimmer and alias free VR flight sim experience that I've ever had. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply and fix my issue!

I was certain that I had tried SSS off but maybe I didn't or perhaps it also needed a complete DCS restart? 🤔

Either way, this was the patch my VR experience needed. A salute to you all at Eagle Dynamics. 😎

The same bug here appears with SSS activated both in VR and without VR.  With or without DLSS, also with MSAA 2x.  It appears when you turn the view, in areas where shadows change to light.  It seems to be related to the reflections in the cockpit glass, it's my impression.  Excuse my English, it is very basic.  Rtx 4070, Ryzen 5 5600 32gb 1440p

I've found that you can also turn off Terrain Object Shadows in settings.

Spoke too soon; this does not work.  The solution is to disable SSS as has already been mentioned here several times.

This is issue of combination of SSS and DLSS, turning Off SSS solved the problem.

First two pics are the a very slightly shifted view on the same settings where the shadows bug out only in dlss -- f15e cold and dark instant action mission -- don't have to move, just press f2 and move the camera around.

Third pic (ending 340.png) is without dlss and as close as I could to replicating the distorted shadow pic.  Cannot repro it.

This is all on latest nvidia 4090 drivers

Outstanding release so far and thank you to the team for what has been and will be delivered. Thanks for the workaround NineLine. At least this issue is not a show stopper and the sim is very playable and enjoyable.
