Gribbstar Posted October 19, 2023 Posted October 19, 2023 (edited) Hi folks, I have a really strange shadow bug since 2.9 and only when enabling DLSS in VR, when moving my head at certain angles. Switching to any other upscaling mode or disabling upscaling altogether removes the problem... along with the large amount of FPS I gain from DLSS. Changing any other setting does nothing. Anyone else seeing this? My system is a lowly i9 9900K (5ghz), RTX3080, 32GB RAM, Quest 2 via link cable. Edited October 19, 2023 by Gribbstar 2

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply and fix my issue! I was certain that I had tried SSS off but maybe I didn't or perhaps it also needed a complete DCS restart? Either way, this was the patch my VR experience needed. A salute to you all at Eagle Dynamics. Edited October 20, 2023 by Gribbstar
Kiwi_Viper Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 yeh it was sss i had same till i turned it off now its perfect, nice job guys this sim just got a whole lot better Ryzen 7 7800x3D, MSI 4080 Super, 64GB DDR5 6000mhz, 2x 4TB & 1x 2TB nvme ssd. Pimax Crystal light, Windows 11 Pro
T24_Martin Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 Same here. Shadows depending on viewing angle with SSS. Is SSS not supposed to work with DLSS or is it a bug?
IMGX Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 The same bug here appears with SSS activated both in VR and without VR. With or without DLSS, also with MSAA 2x. It appears when you turn the view, in areas where shadows change to light. It seems to be related to the reflections in the cockpit glass, it's my impression. Excuse my English, it is very basic. ED Team NineLine Posted October 20, 2023 ED Team Posted October 20, 2023 This is reported, its not only a VR issue. Workaround right now is to not use one or the other. Either turn off DLSS or SSS. Thanks all. Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
Crash Master Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 (edited) I've found that you can also turn off Terrain Object Shadows in settings. Spoke too soon; this does not work. The solution is to disable SSS as has already been mentioned here several times. Edited October 23, 2023 by Crash Master Correction
ED Team NineLine Posted October 20, 2023 ED Team Posted October 20, 2023 Can you guys seeing this tell me what GPU you have? I have someone with a 40xx not able to reproduce this. Me with my 2080 can just fine. Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**

xaxxon Posted October 23, 2023 Posted October 23, 2023 First two pics are the a very slightly shifted view on the same settings where the shadows bug out only in dlss -- f15e cold and dark instant action mission -- don't have to move, just press f2 and move the camera around. Third pic (ending 340.png) is without dlss and as close as I could to replicating the distorted shadow pic. Cannot repro it. This is all on latest nvidia 4090 drivers
ED Team NineLine Posted October 23, 2023 ED Team Posted October 23, 2023 Yeah it's reported now, no Nvidia card is safe sadly, hoping for this one to make the first patch or HitFix. Thanks all. 1 3 Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
xaxxon Posted October 23, 2023 Posted October 23, 2023 Confirming this only happens to me with BOTH DLSS and SSS on. Either or both off and it doesn't happen.
Raven68 Posted October 24, 2023 Posted October 24, 2023 Outstanding release so far and thank you to the team for what has been and will be delivered. Thanks for the workaround NineLine.
