TeTeT Posted October 26 Author Posted October 26 Good morning, now onto something completely different. James J Jackson has put together a first set of US ships that do not exactly fit the Vietnam timeline. We will push them out in the "Cold War Vessels" mod, hopefully in a weeks time. Here is a first teaser video: The Frigate Jesse L Brown, a Knox class escort ship named after a Korean War aviator. His impressive story is told in Devotion, a 2022 movie: 10
TeTeT Posted October 27 Author Posted October 27 Added some static objects to the mod over the weekend. Not sure what affect they will have on performance, we'll need some feedback on these first: commit 9848b45c61250cc03c6e558011f8c62535287808 (HEAD -> main, origin/main, origin/HEAD) Author: TeTeT Nimitz <tetet.nimitz@gmail.com> Date: Mon Oct 27 03:46:47 2025 +0100 Add items to vwv buildings - Add US boom gate - Add US barbed wire - Add US connex container commit 329fc63c95d33689c62da484d757f8c2b97995fc Author: TeTeT Nimitz <tetet.nimitz@gmail.com> Date: Sun Oct 26 10:40:18 2025 +0100 Add barrels and watch tower to buildings 4

Where are they located in the ME? I checked under statics.
TeTeT Posted October 27 Author Posted October 27 Some screens from the dev build. @Devil 505 the development is still ongoing for Vietnam War Vessels 2.2.0. For example all of the static objects seem to face the wrong direction currently. The log above is from our github development repository: https://github.com/tspindler-cms/tetet-vwv I would not base a mission on the development repository, but for curiousity of what's next, feel free to peek. Cheers, TeTeT 9
TeTeT Posted October 30 Author Posted October 30 Cold War Vessels by James This is the initial release of the Cold War Vessels mod for DCS. It contains a number of ships that belongs to the Cold War period. Here comes the initial list: BB62 New Jersey, 1984 version DD537 The Sullivans DD731 Maddox FF1055 Hepburn FF1089 Jesse L Brown Please note that Maddox and The Sullivans were previously found in Vietnam War Vessels. They will be deprecated from there. KNOWN ISSUES The Tomahawk missiles start sideways or backwards from the battleship (ED problem) Download available from https://github.com/tspindler-cms/james-cwv/releases/tag/CWV_0.0.1 9 4
Woogey Posted October 30 Posted October 30 STUPENDOUS! Downloading as soon as I get home from work. Thanks all, Especially JJ.
Eole Posted October 30 Posted October 30 (edited) Il faudrait créer un sujet séparé pour le cold war. Ce serait bien de pouvoir chercher, trouver et suivre les deux mods séparément. Edited October 30 by Eole 1 Eole Website
TeTeT Posted November 1 Author Posted November 1 We have no plans to start a new DCS thread for the Cold War Vessels mod. Meantime some bugs were fixed and a first Release Candidate for Vietnam War Vessels 2.2.0 has been handed over to our testers. New assets are the EC-121 Warning Star and CH-46D Sea Knight, as well as a few static structures, shown in the screens above. Depending on feedback and the detection of critical errors, the development will continue for a few more weeks most likely. I hope we can push 2.2.0 out before US Thanksgiving. Cheers, TeTeT 8

We would like to make the K-3 Tanker as well, but our tankers...well...they do not deliver any fuel. If you found the solution to that problem, we could finally make our KC-10 work as well, which would be great Any chance this bad girl is still being worked on? Been several years now. 4
TeTeT Posted November 1 Author Posted November 1 We have not figured out how to automatically lower the ramp of the CH-46D via mechanimations, anyone with insight into this please let us know! But we've added some custom configuration options to the liveries to make up for this: 14
crazyeddie Posted November 1 Posted November 1 Nice, had a ride in a few of these whilst working with USMC, looking forward to seeing it in the game. 1
Tomcatter87 Posted November 1 Posted November 1 A more modern grey livery for the Seaknight would be awesome for carrier scenarios, too 3 "Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward. I'm not sure helicopters' animation is same to fixed wing airplanes --- Yak-40 uses args 91 for ventral stair, An-26B and IL-76md use args 86 for tail cargo doors. They are animated in DCS ; in their start-up and shut-down times. Mi-26 uses args 38 for side stairs in its .edm , but not animated in DCS. Mi-8T's tail clamshell doors are assigned to args 86 , too. Flyable units' animations might be written in binary DLL even for AI. We cannot use it for pure AI unit , maybe. 1 1 Modules: A-10C/II, F-4E, F-5E(Re), F-14A/B, F-15E, F-16C, F/A-18C, AV-8B, FC3, Ka-50-2/3, UH-1H, Mi-8MTV2, SA342, Mi-24P, AH-64D, CH-47F, P-51D, F4U-1D Maps: Nevada, PG, Syria, SA, Sinai, Kola, Afghanistan, Iraq, CW Germany, Channel, Normandy2.0 Assets etc.: CA, Sc, WW2AP Mods and Skins in User Files: files/filter/user-is-western0221/

It's quite possible that some DLL magic kicks in here, we don't know 1

Devil 505 Posted November 2 Posted November 2 Working on the US Airbase for fixed wing now on the ITJ map. Cannot thank the VWV crew enough for all the hard work they do. More demos to come. This is just a ground cruise of the base at its early stages. Getting the VWV AI assets added though for sure!!! 3
TeTeT Posted November 2 Author Posted November 2 Some progress to report: The Admiral recommended to us to try arg 36 for the ramp. And indeed, upon engine spool up the ramp is closed! I do not know how to get it to open when to embark troops, but at least it's flying now with ramp closed. On the Guard Tower in the buildings back, with help from NodUnit I created a destroyed Guard Tower building, see the following sequence of screens where the Sumner attacks 4 Guard Towers - mission accomplished : 6
TeTeT Posted November 2 Author Posted November 2 Nice short video showing VSN and VWV assets among other DCS goodies: 5
Otulf Posted November 4 Posted November 4 Hello TeTeT! The CH-46 Sea Knight looks great! The Swedish Navy and Air force had the Sea Knight but It was there called Hkp 4. Hkp is short for Helikopter... I have attached a few pictures of the Hkp 4 with Swedish markings. I had the privilege to fly as a passenger in the Navy and Air force version in the early 90:s... As one can see on the naval version, It says Marinen. In Sweden Marinen was the name of the coast artillery and Navy together. So we had the Army, Marinen and the Air force. Great work TeTeT! And many thanks! Best regards: Otulf 4

TeTeT Posted November 4 Author Posted November 4 Right now we'll stick with the default green livery for the Vietnam War Vessels 2.2.0 release. Background is that the model and its uvmap (the mapping between 2d texture files and the 3d model) are undergoing changes, but this will only be completed for a future release. Once the model and its uvmap are stable again, I'll check with Odyseus what liveries we can provide - the modern grey variant and the Swedish livery are noted down. Currently we're still fixing problems in the mod for the upcoming release. The structures we added are often not correctly sized and look funny in game in comparison to other objects. Yesterday I've been testing the Phrog in troop and cargo transport capacity and while the flight model sometimes is questionable, it basically worked. I'm still optimistic that we can release next week. Cheers, TeTeT 4
Bowie Posted November 4 Posted November 4 (edited) Hey TeTeT, Any chance you could strip off the deck coatings of Vietnam War Vessels: DD537 The Sullivans DD731 Maddox So that they would better fit the WWII environment, now that the F4U/Essex carrier have arrived. Thanks for the work, these are great ships, along w/ the DD942 USS Bigelow. Bowie Edited November 4 by Bowie
DmanGIV Posted November 5 Posted November 5 I’m probably working with an older build. Does the Enterprise have a working ICLS?

If I'm not mistaken the modern Enterprise and the 1960ies version share the same lua config. So if ICLS works on one, it should do so on the other. But it's also likely that nobody has tested this in a long time. 2
