CVN AI parking behavior

Since 2.9 my AI flip around once parked on the deck.  TO/Taxi is fine, right after they park, the aircraft flips 180 deg...?  Any ideas? 

Here it shows backing into the spot properly, then does an instant 180

2.8 is working OK, I do notice there are a lot new "trajectories" files in the \DCS\CoreMods\tech\USS_Nimitz\scripts folder....

We experienced the same difference between 2.8 and 2.9 when developing parking spots for CVA-31 Bon Homme Richard. Not sure if this 180 degree reversal is for the better or not? We just swapped the speed (-4 for +4) to work around this behaviour.

Yeah, it happens on the defaul Forrestal too, with their own F14's I'm guessing it's a bug, it's always one step forwards, and 3 steps back these days with updates !!

The Supercarriers are fine, and face the correct way.. weird as feck !

@joey45 I hear you're the SME when it comes to runway luas and parking spots etc, is there anyway you can make a "parking spots for Dummies" to show..

1. How you derive the coordinates for final slot ?

2. How you derive the angle faced on final parking ?

3. How you make the taxi routes from parking to Catapaults ?

I try: There's a script that contains the code for the parking positions, for the Bon Homme Richard it's called EssexRunwaysAndRoutes.lua.

Inside the file the parking positions are defined as sequence of positions combined with a speed vector:

{{ 120.000, 16.95, -2 },                4.0}

the first three digit inside the curly braces are the position in relation to the carrier. The fourth number (4.0) is the speed to go to this position. Negative numbers mean the plane travels backwards. In this case, we changed -4 to +4, so instead of rolling backward into the parking position, the plane moves forward and ends facing outboard with the nose. Then the new 2.9 mechanism will take care of reversing the planes direction.

The relation to carrier,

These position lines are drawn from the Zero, zero, zero point of the carrier in 3D space.

Joey45 tells me if you look at the carriers in MV, and have the parking code in the same folder I think,

You can see all the positions, and measurements  of the heights and distances.

All from the center point of the carrier.
