einar-st Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 With the ongoing russian-labels-in-the-cockpit-photos discussion, I got a bit curious as to what cockpit you all fly in. :joystick: EDIT: This is of course for the people with the english version.
Mustang Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 Russian here : it's a russian helo, so, it makes sense to me to have a russian pit :)
einar-st Posted April 2, 2009 Author Posted April 2, 2009 Russian here : it's a russian helo, so, it makes sense to me to have a russian pit :) I forgot to say what I use, but I agree with you :). Russian makes more sense to me.
Yskonyn Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 While I agree that the Russian labels are more realistic, I prefer to go for readability for two reasons: a) With limited time to play I'd like to get to know the switches quickly b) In the heat of battle I can easily find what I need Mind you, once I know all the frequently used buttons by heart I'll probably switch to Russian, but for now English is more comfortable. bumfire Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 Russian cockpit with russian labels but with an english abris.
nemises Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 english here...I find the sim fully immersive , but do not have the desire to trainspot it to death :)
2GvSAP_Dart Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 If I were a real Ka-50 pilot (and therefore Russian), I'd be reading those labels in Russian as fluently as I do the English ones. But I'm not a real Ka-50 pilot; I just play one on my computer. I wouldn't begrudge the A-10 cockpit having the option of Russian players who are far more comfortable in cyrrilic, after all.
TheMoose Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 (edited) Kind of a pointless thread on the extent that most of the English speaking community would vote for English type of cockpit don’t you think? I myself waited for the English version DL version to came out for that particular reason… Basically what I’m saying is posting this same thread in the Russian section would yield the opposite, so the database you’re trying to collect is fruitless IMO. Yskonyn Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 TheMoose I think you're missing the point a bit here. Eventhough the majority of the community is english speaking or at least has the preference to go for the english version of the product, there is much debate going on about wether the cockpit should be in russian or english. There are a lot of people who waited for the english version to come out, but still use the russian cockpit to add to their immersion and feel for realism. That's a different thing than the whole product being in russian. Just look at the printed manual thread for a few examples of how people look at the russian vs english cockpit issue and I bet most (if not all) use an english version of the software. Feuerfalke Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 As long as there are no collideable trees, no credible AI, no interaction with AI other than my wingmen, a landscape that casts no shadows, etc. I have strong doubts that switching my cockpit to Russian labels will increase realism drastically. That's a bit like painting a number on your 60's VW-Beetle and pretend to drive a Forumla 1 racing car and even laughing at others so damn slow cars, who don't have a number. einar-st Posted April 3, 2009 Author Posted April 3, 2009 I have strong doubts that switching my cockpit to Russian labels will increase realism drastically. It's about being in a cockpit that is as close to the real one as possible. More authenticity than realism in a traditional sense.
joey45 Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 English for now... unit i get compfy with the pit i'll change to RUS. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. It's your choice and I'm glad this choice was implemented. Just makes me wonder why some people point at English-Cockpit-Users with the finger and claim to fly more real than them. I guess you fly with Russian radio-comms, too? Yea, definately good that there's a choice. Also please don't confuse me with the fingerpointers... hehe... I just feel that for me there's an autenticity(I'm starting to feel like an ass every time I say this word) issue. If there was a russian radio-comms option I'd love to use it (with subtitles). As it is now I'll have to download russian audio files? Haven't really looked to much into it.
TangoRomeo Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 For learning purposes i´m using the english version, i like to know what i click. Infact i´m redoing the cockpit to my personal taste; that is improved label eligability and colour consistency: :music_whistling:
71st_Mastiff Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 i use the english cockpit but everything is in Russian text and labels. So I dont know what you mean by what cockpit we fly in?
