People waste time trying to figure out that something worked for them and now it doesn't, and all it takes is simple communication in newsletter and on the website. Yeah, I understand ED is still "figuring things out", but they did fumble the communication pretty bad. Actually pretty surprised there hasn't been any official acknowledgement in the "News" section. theOtherMikeB Posted March 28, 2024 Posted March 28, 2024 On the DCS Discord I noticed a comment from @BIGNEWY that at least we can narrow down the timeline to April (not sure when) so my weekend is free'd up. I'm sure many of us saw it but "just in case". While there are a couple work arounds, I'm concerned about my own technical ability to make the changes to meta files/folders and then know how to revert back once the fix is official. Feel like my tech is held together with duct tape and bailing wire right now...any wrong move and the headset may melt or I'll end up having to rebuild everything from scratch. The best answer (for me) is the fix, but every day i can feel my risk tollerance growing.... FWIW 1

I am not a coder, but worked for a while in Aerospace and electronics engineering.. I didn't continue with the software side... many, many, moons ago.. but I do questions the software. I am curious if there is a way to write in the code so it is not so dependent on individual updates for peripheral devices. Even with the legal agreements with the 3rd parties. Stop the Oculus services, then replace with the previous versions /Oculus/Support/.... that were saved by someone who set them up for download. Not their fault, but we had 3 power outages while I was working on this! On stand by my comments online in several forums on how much I hate Meta, Oculus,, etc..etc... I am not a child, but a dream would be a Meta Oculus Hate fanclub page on the Internet... Did you downgrade to version v62? If so, where did you find it? I searched on Reddit and couldn't find any information, I only found downgrades to older versions.
DrBob Posted March 28, 2024 Posted March 28, 2024 (edited) Now meta is pushing the update agressively. I've made all oculus folders read only. This is absolutely annoying. I don't mind things beeing less than perfect as long as I can still play it. Evry VR player knows there's no going back to 2d. It should have been in a newsletter two weeks ago instead of modules two years out. Hope its fixed in less than two weeks Edited March 28, 2024 by DrBob 1

When people buy a product, they expect it to work (even without reading forums, posts or searching for it). I guess that's normal? Its also normal in the IT world that when something doesn't work (so critical issue), developers focus on a patch specifically for it (I work on projects so I know what I'm talking about). An example even from Cayberpunk 2077, where, due to major problems, we received the first patch after a week of the entire game. Then it only got better. Here we hear that there is a plan, but nothing is known. This is a critical error, not some guesswork. If it suits you, of course you can live with it, but I know people who tear their hair out and have no technological knowledge because they can modify files without damaging something else and in the future they will have to undo it. This may cause further problems, it is worth adding, because it is already a certain interference. I would also like to note that the status has changed, it was information - resolved internally, and now we have it reported only. The rest regarding changes to the game, new content, etc. can wait a week or two or so, basically it doesn't matter. We are talking about a rather critical issue for many. 7 Webmaster of http://www.yoyosims.pl Win 10 64, i9-13900 KF, RTX 5090 32Gb OC, RAM 64Gb Corsair Vengeance LED OC@3600MHz,, 3xSSD+3xSSD M.2 NVMe, Predator XB271HU res.2560x1440 27'' G-sync, Sound Blaster Z + 5.1, TiR5, [MSFS, P3Dv5, DCS, RoF, Condor2, IL-2 CoD/BoX] VR fly only: Meta Quest Pro

Please bear in mind we are testing the whole of DCS and all modules, not just one fix. The meta crash in DCS has created a problem for us and all of you so apologies for that. We are testing potential fixes internally at the moment, I wish I could also, but I do not own the headset personally. So i get that ED didn't cause this issue - however it does highlight a limitation of your release/ patching process. You should be able to do hot fixes for issues such as this. Even if if comes with a large caveat of limited testing - although if people do have issues it would be better to discover them with the hot fix rather than after the main release and then have to go round the loop again. So I think ED need to take away from this there needs to be ability to release a hot fix. Secondly have ED been in contact with Meta to explain the issue o.63 has caused - and tell them just how many customers of meta are very unhappy ? They too need to tighten their release process - and i would love to know if this issue was actually a documented change that was coming which ED simply haven't prioritised - it was in the beta release of 0.63 - so again perhaps ED need to factor in testing meta (and other head set manufacturers) into their engineering / development process to pick this up sooner. 4 minutes ago, YoYo said: Btw.
