Just discover I have this problem now,  had updates on Automatic and now have V63 on both PC and Headset.  How did you revert to V62?

If you go back in this topic there are a number of options for work arounds posted.  The fix should be coming in a patch on Weds if everything goes according to plan, so can decide how much effort you want to put into a work around.

c‘mon, that‘s too harsh. it‘s some of the best software i‘ve ever encountered. just because you can‘t access your favourite toy, some of you acting like little children…

thank you ed for fixing all the problems.

It's as though they've nothing else in life to do. Nonetheless, it's good for ED to know that the addiction is strong.

Well I tried to start up DCS last night in VR.  It is crashing on start again.  Looks like we will need to wait for DCS to find the problem and issue a patch.

There's at least 3 solutions posted in this thread as a workaround until ED issue their patch:

  1. Replace the oculus files with older versions
  2. Use Virtual Desktop
  3. Use SteamVR

Have you tried any of these? I'm using method 1. and its working perfectly but I also tested method 2 so know its also working well.

@omohat, no I haven't tried the other options.  Going to wait for the upcoming patch this week, as there is apparently a fix in that patch.  Thanks for the recommendations though.

I recently switched to stand alone. Since this V63 issue has happened, I haven't been able to start the game. I only play in VR. This morning I decided to try and start the game in pancake to mess around with the mission editor. Well, the same thing happens, game crashes at the same spot during start up. I tried doing a repair which completed successfully but did not solve this issue. Anyone have a solution for this?

Maybe a good idea for the OP to update his post with links to the solutions etc. That's if he wants to be helpful. Alternatively... hold on until the 4th when ED expect to release the patch.

In the meantime, to run in pancake mode, ensure you don't have any command line options in your shortcut to DCS and check your options.lua file in your "saved games\dcs\config" folder and set VR > enable to false.

It happened to me, I had to back up my bindings in saved game folder and reinstall DCS. It then opened in 2d, reinstalled the bindings files and it runs ok now. If you want a solution to the VR problem, most solutions are in the first 5 pages although a fix is due out Wednesday.

try the dcs launcher / updater utility app, you can turn on/off vr off-game. Or have two separate installs of dcs as mentioned here:

one install vr, one just 2d.

since 2.9 i‘ve never used 2d since. the quality with the quest 3 is better than with a screen. i will never go back to 2d.

Thanks for that info. I'm going to wait for the official update. It's a little disappointing since I have the next two days off work and today my new collective from Virpil is arriving, AH-64.

To start the game in pancake mode use the force-disable-VR parameter:

"C:\DCS World\bin-mt\DCS.exe" --force_disable_VR

Because you have “VR enabled” on the in game menus. There is a post back in the thread telling you what file you can open to change it

What version is your PC app?

Sorry for the delay: 63.0.0.216.361 (but I am using the files from the reddit thread, because I had no time for tests and I needed an immediate solution). Fingers crossed for the next patch, I hope there won't be any surprises.

@BIGNEWY does the patch work under both V63 and V64 of the meta-software or just one or the other?
Just asking in case need to update Meta software and headset or leave it.

As far as I am aware yes it looks ok, but again I wish I had the headset to test it myself.

thank you

Apologies all, but we have found issues and we need to postpone the patch until the 10th. We know this fix is an important one but we can not patch with the blocking issues found during final regression tests.
