Cap_Z Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 (edited) My TrackIR4 works fine with Flight Sim X but not in BS. It works in the TrackIR heads window before I load BS, but quits when BS loads. I am running V4.1 Build 36 TrackIR, and running both TrackIR and BS as admin. I have BS in my TrackIR profile. Any ideas? I am getting desperate. Oh yea, I forgot to mention my specs: Q6600 @3.1GHz 4GB, Memory, 8800GTX Video, Windows Vista 32bit Edited April 13, 2009 by Cap_Z
EtherealN Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 (edited) You did update both the TrackIR4 software AND the game profiles, right? I use Build 36 on Vista with no issues. I currently have a separately constructed Black Shark profile for it, but I previously ran it with the Flight preset. EDIT: Just remembered one thing: I did run into some issues when I had Windows Aero active - TrackIR would "lose" the application when it switched EXE - that is, when you go from the menu to a single player mission. I then disabled Aero because it's a resource hog anyhow, and the system has not reappeared. I never ran doublechecks to see if that really was the problem though, but you could test that out. Devas Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 HI Cap_Z!!!! try the version 4.1 build 35, I install this build and although tir 4 worked well with other simulators (IL2 1946 and LOMAC FC) did not work with the black shark. Try and tell us if it works :book: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Playing war, and our own way, is the quickest and most direct way of leading to the cemetery, to us and to our colleagues ...
Cap_Z Posted April 14, 2009 Author Posted April 14, 2009 I have updated my software and game profiles and am running BS profile. I tried disabling Aero but no joy. Not quite ready to fall back to previous version Trackir as BS is supposed to require the latest version.

I leave Aero enabled and have no troubles like that. But I play in full-screen, and I've noticed that certain Aero features (like the semi-transparent taskbar) turn off whenever any application is full-screen, even a web browser.
EtherealN Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Yeah, Aero does all kinds of funky shit, and it wasn't like it happened every single time for me - though I was able to do 100% certain replications of it through alt-tabbing (I also play in full screen) UNTIL I disabled Aero. Real weird. :P [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
Feuerfalke Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Did you close down TrackIR completely and restart it after updating? I never had issues with Aero either. The ALT-TAB-problem usually is caused by the bug with the navy-units in some BS-missions, that prevent you from switching back to BS when playing in Full-Screen. By default the Hotkeys for TrackIr are F8,F9 AND F12 IIRC. Navigate to your Options/Control/Keyboard menu and delete/clear all entries as above under the 'Keyboard' tab so as to ensure no conflict. Cap_Z Posted April 14, 2009 Author Posted April 14, 2009 After two days of testing reinstalling and checking and rechecking settings, my TrackIr miraculously started working in BS. I'm a happy boy now, but I really hate it when a problem is solved without understanding the root cause. I'll not look a gift horse in the mouth though. I am having a blast. I thank everyone for there input.

rbapon Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 I found that having multiple Track IR windows (moving heads) and other sub windows open when loading a DCS BS mission resulted in BS not seeing the Track IR. Running with just the main Track IR window open or minimized allowed Track IR to run properly both in Aero and not under Vista 64. Running with just the main Track IR window open or minimized allowed Track IR to run properly both in Aero and not under Vista 64. This is exactly what the problem was. When I finally got TrackIr working I thought it was just a fluke and I would never know the cause, but since I have verified that having the moving heads and possibly the graph window open causes the TrackIr program to freeze as the mission starts. Now I start with DCSmax and only the main TrackIR window open and it works every time. Problem solved.

Yskonyn Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 It's probably because the TIR profiling program has priority on the TIR itself when you have the tracking/heads windows open. They are used for debugging and testing your setup. It might be that when they're open they somehow block comms from the program to the device because it thinks you're still editing a profile instead of playing a game... or something like that. :P [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Asus Z390-E, 32GB Crucial Ballistix 2400Mhz, Intel i7 9700K 5.0Ghz, Asus GTX1080 8GB, SoundBlaster AE-5, G15, Streamdeck, DSD Flight, TM Warthog, VirPil BRD, MFG Crosswind CAM5, TrackIR 5, KW-908 Jetseat, Win 10 64-bit ”Pilots do not get paid for what they do daily, but they get paid for what they are capable of doing. Zakkorn Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 I cant make Track IR 4 to work with Ka-50 I have the latest drivers. I turned off Aero I change the buttons of Track IR (F9,F12) so the will not conflict with ingame keys. Still cannot work It works in FSX though Intel 965 @ 4GHz 12GB Ram GTX 295 30" LG @ 2560x1600 Logitech G15 & Saitek X-52 Pro TrackIR 4 Pro Vista 64 & XP32
EtherealN Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Which buttons did you change it to? Do you have the TrackIR software minimized or on-screen when starting DCS? Zakkorn Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Yes I have it minimize on system tray, and I tried opened as well. The new buttons I put are Ctrl+Shift+F9 and Ctrl+Shift+ F12 So they are similar with the original buttons. joey45 Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 have you updated the game list through the update tab... The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Zakkorn Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 (edited) have you updated the game list through the update tab... You mean the "Check fo Game Updates..." under Update? Because while I did it, it didnt put the KA-50 on list of titles, if this is what you mean. PS. Ok you were right. I forgot when I press "X" instead of closing it, it minimizes it. So while I update the list I had to close the application of TIR. But I forgot and pressed X (so it never refreshed the TIR's game list) Thanks for the help it works now :) Edited April 22, 2009 by Zakkorn Intel 965 @ 4GHz 12GB Ram GTX 295 30" LG @ 2560x1600 Logitech G15 & Saitek X-52 Pro TrackIR 4 Pro Vista 64 & XP32
