Wyvern Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 (edited) Basically what's in the title, video attached, can make a Trk, but i think its simple enough to reproduce: put a plane at Contrail altitude, look at it, zoom in and out in F1 view. The contrails start to disappear and appear at certain FOV. Digital Combat Simulator 2024-05-25 09-23-19.mp4 In this case it is an E-3, at 35k ft, less than 20NM away Edited May 25, 2024 by Wyvern 8 I have 400GB in skins in my Saved Games. 100GB of that is probably made by myself. okopanja Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 having the same issue here. It was not like this before back in 2.5 and 2.7. Unsure if it started happening with 2.8 or 2.9 I wonder if it happens in VR as well? 1

Czar66 Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 Same here in 2D. Contrails disappear at not so high FOV value and at distances that are not that far.
Vakarian Posted May 29, 2024 Posted May 29, 2024 This is an age old issue, happens in all modes. Same thing happens if you change your view rotation instead of FOV. For example if the contrailing object is to your 3 o'clock, if you looks straight ahead you might see contrails in your peripheral view. However, when you turn to look at it, contrail dissapears.

Yep my guess is it seems to render a square around your location and the furthest parts of the square are the diagonal corners, with you looking at the middle of one of the straight edges. Therefore when you turn your head to look at a corner, the distance you are rendering at gets shorter and the contrails (plus other stuff) vanish. Just my uneducated observations, could be wrong.
LOW_Hitman Posted May 29, 2024 Posted May 29, 2024 This happens ins VR too and also sometimes from left to right eye. One lense is showing the trail - other lense not. i9-9900K / Bios Profile XMP2 / Rog Strix Z-390F Gaming / ASUS TUF Geforce RTX 4070Ti Super / 32GB HyperX Fury 2666 / Saitek X52 HOTAS / Pico 4

a1133620002 Posted November 1, 2024 Posted November 1, 2024 It‘s a still existing problem, which makes huge problems in a2a engagement 1

Aries144 Posted February 15 Posted February 15 This also affects missile launch trails, like with the SA-2. This affects gameplay and really needs fixed. 1
Schmidtfire Posted February 21 Posted February 21 It needs to get fixed. I can't tell how many times this has caused confusion, especially in multiplayer when players on different FOV levels calling out a contrail or smoke trail from a missile launch. 1
