Are you asking about animation? If yes - its a very good idea!

Yeah, I‘m talking about the pilot models. It’s a bit weird when they have their hands resting in their laps when they are flying…. 😅

One of the biggest issues so far is the AI Autopilot "HUD" it's a huge display which for some reason needs to show the outline of the helicopter itself. It's quite intrusive and needs to be modded a bit, no reason it can't show the info in a more compact and less distracting form. At night it's too bright and during the day it's sometimes unreadable depending on the background.

But you don’t need to show the HUD to operate the AI-pilot, you know that, right? You can pull it up separately to see what he‘s doing but you don‘t have to!

Beyond the initial play around for testing I really only use two buttons for the AI-pilot. „take over“, where the AI simply continue the current flight attitude and flies a straight line (of course I only transfer controls when I’m stabilized and no obstacle is in sight), and „Hover“.

Appart from that I occasionally order it to turn a bit. That‘s it. No need to pull the HUD for that.

I don’t think so. And I haven’t seen anything in the bindings that would suggest that.
It would also contradict what Polychop said was there intention with the AI-Pilot. Namely that it was precisely meant as an UI-element to enable single players to use a platform that is meant for crew of two.

I think the idea is to handover flight to the AI and operate the personal weapon yourself and not the other way round.

Edit: I don’t know about you, but I crashed a hundred times with my head down in the cockpit trying to configure or operate some systems, loosing situational awareness and departed controlled flight in the process…. That is exactly the situation the AI-pilot is meant for. It isn‘t a virtual crew member to substitute for a human co-pilot.

The AI Kiowa will engage with their M4 depending on how you have them setup in the mission editor.  Ironically I think Bombing with the weapon selection left on Auto resulted in them forgoing shooting APKWS and instead going rifle.

It's a pity, it turns out that George or Petro is more advanced than the AI pilot here. In addition, where we usually have a "gunner", i.e. Mi-8, UH-1 and probably CH-47, you can give an order to fire from the on-board weapon (sideways).

In the case of Kiowa, this would require additional animation (hand movement on M4), but it is absolutely possible to do it.

I see so many things need to be improved, including the shooter AI.
I am very sorry that Kiowa ignores the age-old standard of functions, including the ability to tow a load.

Yes I understand it doesn't need to be shown to have the AI operate but when I want to order certain airspeed or altitude I have to bring it up, especially altitude since it seems the Baro/Radar command at different rates.  It's still too large and intrusive, all the info could have been put into the standard rose sized dial instead of the hologram on the dash.

I see no need to order 1 knot chnages it could have been simplified like the Apache/HIND where it's flown in a series of speed zones or finer control during hover operations like the Rose H/B.   Say 20kts or less and then up to 30 40 60 80 etc, really no need to sit and hold it for several seconds to go from hover to 90 knots.

I think it should be made smaller, and moved into a corner out of the way. Also during the daylight desert Nevada map it's unreadable as it is.

Last night I was using the MMS and just having the AI fly some slow racetrack patterns and then it got stuck in a turn and wouldn't release. When I clicked the AI off the helicopter did several rolls in a few seconds and crashed. Obviously it has some issues that need to be tracked down.

There are certainly still flaws and imperfections that need to be sort out. Didn’t mean to deny that! Still, I find this „AI“ much more useful (as pilot!) than every other AI-Pilot so far (fixed wing and rotor).

Is there any way to get out of hover mode and just start going forward if maybe you're out of range or just want to start moving to new location? I;ve tried increase speed and go to next waypoint and does nothing.

That seems to be a glitch. When you increase speed from a hover it should go forward. Maybe double check your bindings….

Edit:

Just tried. Works perfectly. You can turn, increase speed, increase or decrease speed from a hover directly by just commanding the according action.

OK. I think it was just me not realizing how long you have to hold down to get going. It responds quicker to change alt and turning. Mapping the HUD helps to see whats going on. Thanks.

22 buttons

You do not need that many. You need

1. speed up

2.speed down

3. turn left

4. turn right

5. hoover( can also turn speed to zero so you can skip it)

6. Follow Route

if you want more use modifier button an set speed and altitude at same buttons.

I have also next point but I got enough buttons

to be fair, hover drift left/right and incrase/decrease altitude are also pretty handy. Especially when in cover using the MMS or sneaking around buildings.

I simply love the addition of AI on the Kiowa; for me it feels better then the George wheel on the Apache.

I programmed all on the winwing UFC numpad; just a quick tab for me to give him feedback.

good job!

Yeah. I have them also mapped. But I train myself to fly with the help of scas heading and aim my missles while I do. AI is what I use when training or want som hands off time trying to add waypoints

and figure out that damn radio. Cami say it is easy. But I find it very difficult to figure out.
I guess my head is full.
