So after this latest update I have been getting crazy stutters in MT. Tried ST but I dont even get 40fps. Multiple P-cores are maxing out, theoretical FPS is 180+ but im constantly getting CPU Bound message in FPS counter. Double checked entire system performance HWinfo64, 13900k is not running hot to get limited, Asus 4090 is very low usage. Deleted FXO and Metashaders just to double check. Ran slow repair for DCS...

Its getting so bad that I get stutters like clockwork approximately every 3 seconds. Prior to update DCS was working perfectly. The only time I dont get stutters is in a completely empty mission...Any help is greatly appreciated.

I already had CPU Core parking disabled but there was a recent W11 update so ill check to see if it reverted.

If it was reverted, and it fixes the issue please let us know.

CPU core parking still disabled, so not the issue.

So this has to be something DCS related. I can load into a single aircraft empty mission and everything is fine. But previous large missions that ran fine even in SP are now stuttering every 3 seconds like clockwork. I can see in the FPS counter going from green to red CPU Main Thread every 3rd second for a fraction of second.

I removed all mods from missions with no change in stutter.

Turned off OC for my 13900k and 4090 just in case it was causing it to be unstable. No change in stutter.

Updated all apps and drivers and windows updates to rule those out. No change in stutter.

I swear DCS was running flawlessly prior to update...

@104th_Money If you're using TacView, try to disable TacView local save and test it again.
On my system it was the cause of stuttering every fixed time 😉

I had a stutter issue before and disabling Tacview solved it for me, but I double checked and its not enabled.

Does it behave anything like this?

If so check this thread for a possible (temporary) fix.

I also have always 1 core at 100% (13900k), after playing with the affinity of DCS I manage to even the usage, although many times 1 or more cores will be at 100% a few seconds. Anyway, that is not the cause of stuttering, at least for me. I think it has to be with the way the game puts the frame time.

Take a look at my MODS here

Special K helped me out in ED Discord. Tacview, although disabled was still possibly causing issues. He also found that 2 lua files from the OH-6A mod may have been giving me issues. I removed Tacview and OH-6A mod completely as well as the 2 lua files and a tacview lua file. This solved all issues and brought back performance to pre update levels.

I have mentioned in another thread that I'm having this exact same issue since the latest patch.  Consistent micro-stutter every few seconds especially noticeable when looking left or right out of the canopy.  I've never had micro-stutter since multi-threading was brough on board.  This is new.

Thanks for getting back to us with the cause. Renaming the DCS saved games folder should have fixed both these issues, as Tacview and the OH-6A mod areias I underestand it nstalled in the saved games directory.

Were you creating a new saved games, and then re-installing these mods before testing?

No, was not aware of that possible solution. I didnt rename my saved games folder, only removed Tacview, the OH-6A mod as well as 2 OH-6A lua files and 1 Tacview lua file in the saved games>scripts>hooks folder and all went back to normal.

Thanks for this. It turns out the Oh-6A was the cause of my stuttering issue. Specifically the scripts/hooks files. I removed all mods as a first step in troubleshooting when this issue came about with the last update, but I must have missed those script files. I spent days trying everything to stop the stuttering and nothing worked.

The odd part is it only effected the Caucasus map and I did not use the OH-6 mod on that map. I could use the OH-6 on other maps and I had no stutter. And it only stuttered after the last update. It is just weird.

Anyway, just wanted to say thanks again. I can finally play DCS again. The A4 and the OH6 where the only two mods I used, but I think I am done with mods going forward.

I feel you, its crazy how one update can make something work differently and cause such issues. All credit goes to Special K though. If he hadnt been available and willing to help and opened up my files to look a things, this could have lasted forever as I would have never checked the scripts/hooks folder...Mods arent bad, we just need to clear out mods if we have issues when updating and put them back in 1 by 1 to see which, if any are the culprit.

I for one would like to know why the 2 CPU cores are pretty much maxed out no matter what you do.  I have a good system, so I'm not trying to be a "woe is me" person, and I can get 120 fps with good graphics and push my 3080 Ti to about 95%. In general though, I like to keep it FPS locked to 60 or 90 (using those increments as TrackIR operates at 120, so 120, 90, or 60 keeps it in good synch). Mostly I run at 60 FPS. I do mostly helo flying. With my system, I can even run the "heavy" Liberation maps on my own server with good results. Running it off an SSD,

But recently I bought the F/A-18, and noticed that I was occasionally get an intermittent stutter/lag, no real pattern to it other than watching MSI Afterburner and seeing that it appears to be the CPU being bound.

Overall, I only am using about 30% total CPU (windows resource monitor) when locked at 60fps, with about 50% GPU load. So I started playing around with settings, including bios, NVCP, and in game. I've been building my own PC's since the 90's and gaming longer than that, so I'm pretty familiar with all manner of tweaking.

What I noticed was, even if I set the DCS settings on the "low", the 2 CPU cores stay in the 90's, mostly 95 and above. Adjusting FPS and other graphics settings can change the load on my GPU, but it seems nothing can reduce that load on the CPU, which just stays up there all the time.

Right now I seem to have reduced it a bit by using my mobo bios settings on the Gigabyte mobo setting of "Instant 6 ghz, which offers 6 Ghz on 2 cores. That seems to give it a little extra "oomph" and for the most part the stutter is not consistently there with that setting. In the past I've also disabled E-Cores (another Gigabyte tweaking option), but the E-cores disabling doesn't seem to have much effect anymore one way or the other. Tried turning off hyperthread in bios (terrible), and just about every other trick in the book, but those 2 CPU cores stay maxed or high 90's all the time.

Again, compared to many people my system is great, so I'm not boo hooing, just wondering why oh why are those 2 CPU cores so high all the time, even with the game settings on "low".

I don't need them at 35%, but getting them down to about a CONSISTENT 90% or below would provide enough overhead I think to eliminate those random major stutters methinks.

Just wondering why those 2 are maxed out like that, and what, if anything, can be done to reduce that. As stated, I've tried every low setting there is, and it just doesn't seem to do much.

Attached a couple of screens, with what I run generally but at 120fps in this case

It is reported that in some cases the script files causes stuttering.

Stuttering usually happens on missions with a lot of units.

This is not an issue of the mod itself.

No need to remove the whole mod.

Removing the script files always solved the issue to my knowlegde.

Only drawback is that the doorgunners won't work.

Thank you so much for bringing this up again. I had the exact same issue. Deleting Tacview/OH6 scripts has finally solved the issue.

You legends, you saved my install and my server missions. Thank you. I was convinced my mission file which has many many hours now was corrupted.
