Freakmeister51 Posted June 10, 2024 Posted June 10, 2024 (edited) I’ve noticed that there is a AI pilot On/Off option as well as a pilot HUD option. There are also commands in the control settings menu for flying orders. Does this mean that we will be getting the ability to give AI pilot orders whilst in the Co-Pilot seat a the future? I have not tried selecting AI pilot on the fly to find out what he does yet. Edited June 10, 2024 by Freakmeister51
cthulhu68 Posted June 10, 2024 Posted June 10, 2024 AI Pilot on/off hands off to AI autopilot. Pilot HUD gives you an overlay to see alt, heading, speed adjustments. If you map AI controls to Pilot config they will also work with copilot as long as you didn't bind those buttons for copilot already.

Thanks for the reply Cthulhu, I was kind of referring to a ai compass affair, like the tomcat and phantom. I’m going to try making a voice attack profile, see how that works out for me. I generally fly in VR and don’t have enough buttons or the like to map the ai pilot controls. 1

A lot of us are lobbying for the "command rose" style control for AI pilot to become the standard in DCS aircraft that require a second+ crewmember. Let's see if PC is receptive...not hopeful, because this wasn't really a big community concern until now. [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Rocky49 Posted June 10, 2024 Posted June 10, 2024 personally I like the set up. Its really straight forward and does what I want. I don't think you will convince PC to rework their code for this change. 1 System:Motherboard Asus ROG Strix Z390-E,Asus ROG GeForce RTX 2080Ti OC, GPU, 32GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 Ram, Intel i9 9900K @ 5 GHz , cooled by NZXT Kraken X52, Acer XB270HU G-Sinc monitor, Windows 10 Pro, Warthog joystick and throttle with wasy extension, VBK Gunfighter Pro and MCG Pro,MFG Rudder, running on a dedicated 1TB Samsung 970 Pro M2 Nvme , Super Wheel Stand Pro, with a HP Reverb G2
Jenrick Posted June 10, 2024 Posted June 10, 2024 I prefer the PC AI setup for telling my AI pilot where to go and how. I find Petrovich and George (PaG) both cumbersome in comparison to use with the combination of modes and short/long presses. If PaG used something akin to PC's controls for helo movement, and kept the combat control flow they have currently I think it would work nicely. 1
Gunfreak Posted June 10, 2024 Posted June 10, 2024 I like the current system, but then I got lots of buttons. I use my Winwing F18 throttle to control the. MMS etc. And then i use the various buttons and hats ony my Blackhawk collective grip to control the AI. Once I get used to and remember the buttons I can fly ut just fine without the need for the AI hud. I get my helicopter were I want it. Hand it over to the AI, jump to the left. Do the MMS stuff, while make minor corrections to the AI to get a good view with the MMS. i7 13700k @5.2ghz, GTX 3090, 64Gig ram 4800mhz DDR5, M2 drive.
monkie Posted June 10, 2024 Posted June 10, 2024 just add the turn to the heading I'm looking in, that is one I use the most with the other modules. Right now you need to hold down the key for turn left/right for a long time when you might be wanting to use the sensor or doing something else. Also no need to hold the key for speed up/ slow down for so long, just click it in 10 kt increments unless it's under 20 kts in a hover. Might I suggest Voice Attack program. It's free for a handful of commands, otherwise I think it's $10. In VR it works wonders. I use it for anything that I would be able to speak to a co-pilot or a crew chief. For example, in the Heuy I advise my "Crew Chief" to open the doors, of change ROE, I speak to my copilot and request he takes controls etc. Additionally I have all my radio menus F10 Menu and whatnot also set up via voice, so while flying I can state, load AT troops, and it will press (\, F10, F8, F5) automatically, SERVER SPECIFIC as an example. I even use it for esc, enter, backspace, typing, recordings, alt tab, you name it, endless options.
