zaelu Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 Yes, the menu flickering is gone with the new drivers. Win 7 RC1 works well till now with DCS. I even upgraded from beta to RC1 without any problem (beside the editing the ISO). All drivers worked without reinstalation (X52 pro, rudder pedals, freetrack, etc. nice :) . arteom Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 Ok, this is bugging me, can't figure it out and can't see a way to make it work. Is anyone here running an older ATI card in Windows 7 (pre DX10) and is able to play blackshark? The problem is that the main screen is not showing up correctly, if I can manage to hit instant action (which I can't see but can guess where it is) the game launches in windowed mode, and runs fine. Otherwise the screen is just blank except for a few things. Now here is the kicker, this does not happen when I launch Black Shark multiplayer, everything seems fine there. Any help would be well appreciated.

arteom Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 I dont have the catalyst software installed, I think the drivers installed are Windows native drivers, I don't think there are drivers for the older cards for the windows 7 OS...yet. Some games run fine, but not this one >.<

I installed it Windows 7 RC 64-bit last night... installed HD4870 fine, X-Fi card also... HOTAS Cougar also working fine... but I couldn't get TrackIR to work. I read a long winded article about how DirectX 11 was supposed to boost beformance because they were optomizing all the code for multicore/multithread... I have a XP/Win 7 dual boot. I don't run a bench. But I do not need a bench, because the performance I gain needs no test...it's big enough to recognize;) One User did a comparison: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=614161&postcount=28 Do you know if I can upgrade from Win 7 build 7000 x64 to Win 7 RC1 x64? And if so, can you please tell me how it's done? Stay on the safe side and make a new install. Otherwise there is a hack. Download the ISO as you did previously and burn the ISO to a DVD. Copy the whole image to a storage location you wish to run the upgrade from (a bootable flash drive or a directory on any partition on the machine running the pre-release build). Browse to the sources directory. Open the file cversion.ini in a text editor like Notepad. Modify the MinClient build number to a value lower than the down-level build. For example, change 7100 to 7000 (pictured below). Save the file in place with the same name. Run setup like you would normally from this modified copy of the image and the version check will be bypassed. Did anyone manage to get TrackIR 3 Pro working with Windows 7 RC 64-bit? (Mainboard driver ok?) Is it installed as USB 2.0 or only as USB 1.0/1.1? Edited May 12, 2009 by Duke49th [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 49th Black Diamonds - DCS & Falcon BMS Online Squad
arteom Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 ok, well. problem solved, sorta. the solution to the problem I was having can be found here: http://forums.amd.com/game/messageview.cfm?catid=279&threadid=112133&forumid=11 Took some trial and error, but finally got it working. S D Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I'd just like to ad my two cent's to this. I am totally converted from XP to Win7. I have the RC1 installed with the latest ATI Win7 drivers, everything works perfectly. I use Vista 64 drivers for all my other periphrals and have no problems what so ever. I can also confirm that TrackIR 3 Pro + Vector, does indeed work fine in Win7. I have had a couple of times when the TrackIR software has crashed, but restarting the software fixed this. I am using the latest TrackIR4 software, as available on the naturalpoint website. The FPS increase and loading time speed is greatly improved (especially using the affinity trick), definate thumbs up from me.
Panzertard Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 RC1 x64 and Nvidia 295. Never looked back since the Beta. Not any problems with neither TrackIr4 or any games at all. (Not tested that many yet anyway). Framerates okai in BS, cannot run 2560x1600 (~15 fps with medium->high settings), but 1680x1050 runs nicely at ~28 to 45 fps. (again, medium to high settings). arteom Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Yeah from what I understand people with nvidia cards are not experiencing any problems, its the pre dx10 ATI cards that are having driver issues with win 7. What came as a bit of a shock to me was the lack of support for these cards by ATI, I had my eye on a set of 4770 cards, might be switching over to nvidia...
