It depends on test results, soon hopefully, but we are fixing more than one issue.

thank you

Hi all,

controller issues have been reported to the team

we are looking into it

thank you

Hey BIGNEWY,  I don't know if anyone has given any details but just wanted to pass along that I can recreate the missing hand controllers in Single Thread with my Rift S by using the --force_OpenXR switch when launching the single thread exe.  Otherwise the hands are visible in ST.

arent they still still messed up in ST though?  Like 90 degree cant and the laser pointer coming from the palm or something?

Also, if we remove "force open XR" does that fix the hands in MT?

Yeah, they're still not oriented correctly in ST but they at least work as far as the laser pointer and clicking what I need to click.   And there's no way to remove Open XR in MT since it's coded to use it by default and I'm not aware of any switch to turn it off.   My point was to provide insight that it appears to be a change with regards to the Open XR runtime that is related to the broken VR controllers.  ED may know it already but I figured I would share what I discovered.

He literally just told us that even if they had the controllers fixed they won't release it until they fix more than one thing.  Here is what makes absolutely no sense:  why didn't the open beta catch this?  I decided to go with the stable version because it's supposed to not have updates that break the game.  Isn't that what the open beta is supposed to do?  If updates to the stable version still have so many bugs why even have an open beta?  Nothing makes any sense about any of it.  Then you just have to love their commitment to their paying customers, telling us that we just have to wait and that it has nothing to do with their business of selling more incomplete products to find new products.  Also notice they never once apologized for releasing such a bugged update to what is supposedly the stable ie complete version of their game.  It's been over a week that I've owned their FC3 24 and I still haven't played it and have no idea when I will.

there is no open beta.  also, you can roll back to a previous version by manually running the updater:

bin\DCS_Updater.exe update 2.9.5.55918@release

not ideal, i wish this update was handled better as well.

New patch DCS 2.9.6.58056 DCS 2.9.6.58056 (digitalcombatsimulator.com) still doesn't fix my controller issue. Quest 3. Tried DCSW/MT in both OpenXR and SteamVR. No interaction at all.

I'm using Virtual Desktop and have tried all manner of settings, input, dances and thrown the chicken bones. Nothing.

I'm running VD with VDXR as the OpenXR runtime... No issues with the controllers.

Well darn. I don't have the Oculus software installed. I hope that isn't a requirement. I have;

Falcon BMS, The 7th Guest, Myst, Riven, Skyrim VR, Fallout 4 VR, The Talos Principle VR, and a host of other games on this rig and all work fine without the Oculus software.

Bummer.

Can you share your VD settings?

Running Quest 3 with VD and VDXR, still no controllers for me.

Hi All,

Just to let you know a minor Hotfix on the 22.07.24 didnt fix this, still reverts to the unusable black gloves with 90 odd degree Laser controls so I copied pasted my previous content to roll back for now, Will await further hot fixes.

@bignewy  I appriciate this might take some time to properly fix.

Only way I found to fix the Steam version for me was to roll back (this wont work woth telling the updater to roll back like the store version to previous release), then go to Steam Console, also look up Steam Console downloader, input Appid - Depot ID and Manifest ID for previous release, hit download or this will download anyway from Steam., reinstall it, I ended up combining my previous version from Steam by also combining Store version for now with Steam.

I can use FC24 with the combined version i bought (I bought the original FC3 off of store and FC24 off of Steam),

What a lot of Faffing Would be better if we could somehow block (lock in) the Steam updates from heppening until an unbroken version came along. I know that DCS (ED) will eventually fix all though.

To cheer yourselves up for now, please watch any Grim Reapers stuff, i foud thier extreme landing competition made me lol., Being half German i so got the comments.

I hope this helps if you need me to post an upload of my fixed content (you will still have to sign in of course) I can do that on a google drive but its 181 GB of content so going to take a while, until I get rid of my over priced ISP Vermin (Virgin) media and go with Syncronous 900 GBPS FTTP provider toob..

Any one heard of toob? i think tjhey are supposed to be good.,

Sorry to go off tangent. Enjoy DCS if you can, this will be fixed eventually.

Bumping this because months later and the vr controllers that once worked perfectly fine are still jacked up. The traditional vr controls settings simply won't click mfd buttons in the cockpit for me. The hand controllers have a very weird and uncomfortable ~90 degree offset from where I'm actually pointing and won't allow for mouse wheel scrolling. I've been trying to get by picking whichever control setting seems to captire the most clicks in the cockpit for a particular airframe, and then having to grab for my mouse for complex operations like right-clicking or mouse wheel scrolling.

What's super frustrating is this seems like a universal problem for most VR users, and this should have been able to be fixed with an "oops! That feature didn't integrate well at all. Let's roll back to the last stable version of that feature until we get the new implementation figured out.". Like what's also not happening with the ability to turn spotting dots off.

Pimax crystal user with the stock pimax controllers that came with the set. No lighthouse plate, or any other conflicting peripherals. I can provide screen captures if that helps, but I think all the behavior I've been seeing mirrors what other users already posted here.

Edit for additional details :

Standalone multithreading version of DCS.

Hi, BIGNEWY - just want to mention that the VR controller laser pointer still does not render.  The issue has been around since MT was introduced.  Just want to make sure it's on the radar.

Thanks

Same issue for me. Though they would have fixed this by now.  For me meta quest 3 hands show up at first but will not interact with anything. If I go to VR menu they disappear and will not come back until I restart Dcs. However if I can’t toggle or interact with anything they are useless.  And yes they worked fine on f16 and f18 before this release

@BIGNEWY Just chiming in that I also still experience this issue, with a Valve Index headset and Vive controller. The hand initially renders and does the point/grip animation when clicking buttons on the controller, but cannot interact with anything, whether in the menus or in a cockpit. If I open the VR tab on the settings menu, the hand disappears until relaunching the game.
