hannibal Posted July 23, 2024 Posted July 23, 2024 (edited) at first i wasnt trying to get yet another dcs aircraft. but after doing a huey cargo mission to build patriot SAM batteries on pre-contact server, it was fun i ended up pre ordering because: 1) helo with digital nav.. at least from all the crazy MFD's, more helos that can program in waypoints, i am for it 2) build farps 3) I WANA BE A RAMP DOORGUNNER.. my DIY doorgun joystick controller needs CH47 and M3M .50cal.. CANT WAIT! Edited July 23, 2024 by hannibal find me on steam! username: Hannibal_A101A http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197969447179
47_Driver Posted July 24, 2024 Posted July 24, 2024 I've been playing DCS for 11 years. It helped foster my love for aviation. I continue to love DCS, and for the last 5 years I've been flying the CH-47F as a career. It's an incredible aircraft and I'm excited to be able to fly it from home! 9
Ramstein Posted July 24, 2024 Posted July 24, 2024 what I remember the most about it when I was stationed on a USAF base that had Army with aircraft and tanks too,,, we got Chinooks and everything in Nato. I remember putting equipment in there and the fuel tanks on each side... around 1980. I think it had 6 or 8 fuel tanks. I rode in other helos, but not the Chinook. 1 ASUS Strix Z790-H, i9-13900, WartHog HOTAS and MFG Crosswind G.Skill 64 GB Ram, 2TB SSD EVGA Nvidia RTX 2080-TI (trying to hang on for a bit longer) 55" Sony OLED TV, Oculus VR
Grennymaster Posted July 24, 2024 Posted July 24, 2024 my reasons 1. its an absolut icon of aviation,so its nearly a must 2. logistic is a very interesting part of militäry operations, that bird will ad very much depth in that part 3. i had the plesure to fly in one of these not so common as a german soldier 15 years ago so therefore its also a must .) 4. it is very advanced in avionics an technology in general 1
Viking 1-1 Posted July 24, 2024 Posted July 24, 2024 The thing I'm most excited about is the fat cow feature! Before you call everything a "bug": RTFM & try again! Thank you. :music_whistling: I9-9900k, 32 GB RAM, Geforce RTX 2080 TI, 128 GB M2 SSD, 1 TB SSD, Track IR, Warthog Hotas
Romandv Posted July 24, 2024 Posted July 24, 2024 (edited) I'd be interested in flying in a cockpit with glass displays, as I already have a version with analog instruments in X-Plane 12 and i don't think I'll be thrilled, as I've flown this helicopter before, so it won't have a novelty effect, but it will be interesting to compare. Well, and of course, door gunners are a very cool thing about DCS. AhSoul Posted July 24, 2024 Posted July 24, 2024 It's iconic, and it's something different to all the jets and attack choppers I normally fly. I really hope ED do logistics well and it becomes a staple feature of missions without lots of 3rd party scripts. 2 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Soul's pit thread
badger7966 Posted July 24, 2024 Posted July 24, 2024 How fast can a fatcow tank be installed .....it must be a pallet affair, quick change ? Im looking forward to trucking some fuel into the depths of hell to allow the attack boys to complete their mission.....beer in one hand and a hamburger in the other. 1

The empty tank weighs about 800lbs and requires quite a bit of muscle to get it into place and locked in with the bracket system. Usually at least 2 hours to have one installed. 2
Beirut Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 I like that it's big, fat, and fast. And it has sophisticated nav systems but no real weapons, so it's all about the flying, but still has cool tech toys. Until the C-130 comes out, I guess this will have the highest people capacity of any plane or chopper. 4 Some of the planes, but all of the maps!
Slippa Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 I’m waiting to hear it almost as much as to fly it. At times, usually when just getting started and warmed up I’ll hear other aircraft taking off or flying overhead and I’ll smile at the sound of it. Something DCS really does a good job on is the sound of aircraft. There’s nothing that sounds the same as a Chinook and it’s bound to sound good here too. Wakka wakka wakka wakka Also, dropping off someone that can shoot off the ramp riding a quad or a jeep would be a lot of fun. Imagine rolling along riding in a row of quads all trying to get up the ramp and in. Or being the pilot making em chase ya. 3

Migparts Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 The brutality of the huge double rotor machine carrying troops and supplies to where its needed. The loud sounds. The joy of actually piloting such an improbable airborne banana. ! 4 George

No air to air refueling, Wags mentioned in the youtube comment of the recent take off video that only the MH-47 Chinook has that. And hinted at wanting to correct the misleading store page info. 2 1

donkeyrider Posted August 6, 2024 Posted August 6, 2024 I've always liked this helo - quite iconic. For me, I'm looking forward to having something that is straightforward to fly. There are days where I come home and just want to relax. On those days, moving some boxes from point A to point B and not having to worry about SAM or AAA etc is exactly what I need.
LuseKofte Posted August 6, 2024 Posted August 6, 2024 It does What I like best , but I have been having ambivalent feelings about it since I heard it would come. I think it need a ai crew that I have not seen around in order to do real chinook work. It is probably a very stable platform for normal work. And I got mi8 for that. I hope I will enjoy it longer than it takes me to learn it. I really hope I will enjoy it as long as I enjoyed the MI 8
