Game crashing

is there any known issues at the moment my system keeps crashing?

rtx 4090

Ryzen 7 7800x3d

2 x 16 GB Corsaire

1x 2 tb M.2

1x 4 Tb M.2

HP Reverb G2

its only been happening since i purchased the F16c about 3 days ago.

 

P.S  im new to pc's so go easy  im no computer wiz

Your system would run circles around mine, and yet my computer is super stable with DCS.
Have you overclocked anything? DCS can be particularly picky with that.
You could try to update/repair the VisualC Redistributions, or what they're called.

can you attach your dcs log, it should have some clues.

it seems to work on instant action fine, it seems to be crashing on my create mission file that i tried to play

 

hopefully this helps

dont think its over clocked, its straight from the pc Builders  last year

thanks but are you sure that is the correct log? it is from 2024/4/24, do you have one newer?

Did you also check the above comment about the redistributable?

I had a new 4 tb wd Black installed and DCS moved to that.. that may explain it. However theres no saved games folder that i can see in D Drive?

The savegames folder he refers to is usually on the C:\ drive under users\your user\savegames\DCS......

Yeah thats the one i attached above. 

All of my DCS was on the C drive, but when i had a storage issue thr main core DCS was moved to D drive to a 4Tb designated drive. The C drive stall contains - user/ saved games/ directory

 

The log i attqched was from the c drive Saved games as requested. Ill have a look again and see what it says date wise

I've done some digging

found todays logs in a different area.

 

yes it works fine on the instant action side of things, i created a free flight mission a while ago in create mission, its always been fine. i changed my aircraft from my usual FA18C to my new F16C to have a blast and it kept crashing before i could take off, the VR went black and on the main monitor DCS had froze, it then eventually says DCS is not responding... do you want to wait for DCS to respond .. or close down.

 

i then went onto instant action and all seemed fine???

please remove all unofficial mods and run a repair, then retry.

Will i be ok to add the mods back on again or are they going to be a problem again? Also is it easy to run a repair?

hello. just to assist @BIGNEWY. remove all the unofficial mods. run a repair. then retry DCS. if it works, great, and it was probably a MOD. if not, then attach your latest DCS.LOG

Sorry for the late reply. Been away for work. Do i also need to delete skin mod for the F16C which was saved into the main DCS file for the f16. 

Am i ok to copy the mod folder to a folder on the desktop, then delete the folders in the Mod folder. Once and if i managed to carry out my first DCS  repair. Do i just copy the mods back into the mod folder

hello. it is recommended to get rid of all unofficial files that are in the main DCS program folders. honestly nothing should go here. all modifications should go in saved games. this way, when you update DCS, saved games files are not affected. yes make copies of modded files from everywhere, and then do the repair.

Hiya yeah all my MOds are in the saved games mods location. The only one on the main dcs aircraft liveries is the Alabama red tails livery. In the read me file it says to add it to the main dcs f16c liveries

i downloaded and put the skins in \Saved Games\DCS\Liveries\F-16C_50 and the skins showed up as a selection in Mission Editor. i think the readme is incorrect. well it would work there. but it also works in Saved Games.

My dcs is on D Drive in its 4tb m.2 and my saved games is on my C Drive 2Tb m.2.

Therr isnt an F16 in there, do i need to add it into there?

Ill try this. Im sure i had issues last time getting it to work in saved games last time however i will try this. How long does a repair take usually. Hope i do it correct. I dont want to mess anything up

the amount of time the repair will take is going to be affected by the speed of your internet. the repair action will check your files and then replace any that are not standard files. if you have thousands of files to be repaired, it will take longer. it has to redownload those files.

The RAM might be seated properly. Has happened to users prior to you.
You really should consider using a mod manager to handle your mods, OvGME is very popular, while it's not developed any more. Personally I use Open Mod Manager by the same dev, is in development, and is supported. I have though started using another mod manager without a GUI, that's easier on the disk drives for very large mods. And will apply a mod in a matter of seconds. I'd also look into Skatezilla's excellent GUI Updater/Launcher app which has a ton of features. Makes repairs/updates a breeze. There is also a livery manager that has no GUI and creates the correct folders in Saved Games automatically. Does not support all user mods though, and not sure about the latest modules.
