Netrunner Posted October 17, 2024 Posted October 17, 2024 The Harrier is one of my favorite modules and aircraft in real life. With things not looking so good on the Razbam front and us potentially losing support of their Harrier, I was hoping Eagle Dynamics could step in and give us another Harrier module. There are lots of different Harrier versions that we obviously don't have at this point. Harrier GR.3, Harrier FRS.1 Sea Harrier, Harrier FA.2, Harrier GR.5/7/9, Harrier T.10/12, AV-8B Plus version, any would be nice to have. 1 Intel 14700K, Nvidia 4080 Super, Kingston Fury 6000MHz 96GB RAM, NVME2 SSD, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS
AndyJWest Posted October 17, 2024 Posted October 17, 2024 Good luck finding the necessary publicly-released documentation for any British Harrier. 1
Mr_sukebe Posted October 17, 2024 Posted October 17, 2024 What about a Spanish version? 1 7800x3d, 5080, 64GB, PCIE5 SSD - Oculus Pro - Moza (AB9), Virpil (Alpha, CM3, CM1 and CM2), WW (TOP and CP), TM (MFDs, Pendular Rudder), Tek Creations (F18 panel), Total Controls (Apache MFD), Jetseat

I forgot to put the AV-8A and AV-8C on my list. Surely, if we could get the AV-8B Night Attack we could get the AV-8A or AV-8C. The initial AV-8A were basically the same as the GR.1 except for radios, IFF, and the more powerful engine from the GR.3. 1 Intel 14700K, Nvidia 4080 Super, Kingston Fury 6000MHz 96GB RAM, NVME2 SSD, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS
Vampyre Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 An AV-8A would be great for the Kola map as that is where the East coast Marines most likely would have ended up back in the 70's-80's had the war kicked off. The other variants like the C and S and even the GR1 could be covered by livery's and weapons restrictions. It would be nice to have some assets included like an Iwo Jima class, SNS Principe de Asturias and HTMS Chakri Naruebet. Additionally, a Harrier GR3/T4 would be great for both the Kola and Falklands maps. Maybe include a Victor or VC-10 Tanker with it. Sea Harrier FRS1 seems like a necessary thing for a simulated Falklands war. The Indian FRS51 could be done as a livery. It would be good to have additional assets like modernized Invincible class ships like Illustrious and Ark Royal as well as the INS Vikrant. 3 Truly superior pilots are those that use their superior judgment to avoid those situations where they might have to use their superior skills. If you ever find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck! "If at first you don't succeed, Carrier Landings are not for you!"
Netrunner Posted October 20, 2024 Author Posted October 20, 2024 Some good AV8A/GR1 pr0n. 1 Intel 14700K, Nvidia 4080 Super, Kingston Fury 6000MHz 96GB RAM, NVME2 SSD, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS

Just to give people an idea of how difficult this would be.... Wargaming.net had a hard time getting the Royal Navy to fork over the detailed plans for the Royal Navy Battleships going as far back as HMS Dreadnought in order to put them into WoWs, and that's for ships that haven't even been around in over a century. Just imagine the PITA it would be to get the deets on a fighter that's only just left service in the last couple decades

I don't know if the Ferranti Laser Rangefinder and Target Spotter that was used is still classified or not but that's all you really need to make the GR.3 in DCS if you combine the flight model data of the AV8A, as that already had the uprated Pegasus 102 engine. GR.1 could easily be made off the data for the AV8A since the GR.1 and the AV8A are the same except for radios, IFF, and the GR.1 had a slightly less powerful engine with 2,500 less pounds of thrust. I've been a customer for 11 years now and bought the Hawk module from the now defunct VEAO. Only way to play it now is from an old 1.X version. Supported like that? The game has progressed a lot and I'm not going to have two DCS installs on my pc. My install right now takes up almost half my hard drive and that's without all the maps (which I own). Also, the Hawk was a buggy mess that didn't work that great to begin with. 2. Even if it's supported continuously in new versions, it will never be able to be updated 3d model, art, and system wise as DCS progresses over the years. There was a 3d model and art update for it supposedly in progress by Razbam but that's out the window now. Also, the more the merrier. Razbam supposedly was going to give us a GR.3/FRS.1 and potentially a GR.7/.9 and B+ version. That can't happen as things stand now. 2 Intel 14700K, Nvidia 4080 Super, Kingston Fury 6000MHz 96GB RAM, NVME2 SSD, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS

I highly doubt we would ever see any British harrier whatever Razbam said. 1 i7 13700k @5.2ghz, GTX 3090, 64Gig ram 4800mhz DDR5, M2 drive.

In ED terms "supporting" means that they will fix all game breaking bugs but it wont proably get more than that but hey, at least you can still play it. Better than no Harrier. 1 My skins
upyr1 Posted October 25, 2024 Posted October 25, 2024 My Harrier wish list Hawker/Av-8A -if there can only be one then something used by both the raf and usmc. If nothing fits that then whatever variant is the most numerous out of the two closest. Sea Harrier- my main concern here is the variant used in the falklands AV-8II plus the main difference between this and the b we already have is that it uses a variant of the APG-65 radar and AMRAAMs. We already have 2 planes with the apg-65 and AMRAAMs so I think ot would work as a stand in for the Sea Harrier we can't get. 1
Pikey Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 There's so many versions either side of the Night Attack I'd love to see. The Sea Harrier is my personal favourite but even the II+ is probably more popular for the younger crowd using the Top Trump style of weighted qualities. ___________________________________________________________________________ SIMPLE SCENERY SAVING * SIMPLE GROUP SAVING * SIMPLE STATIC SAVING *
