Hi hilikusopus,

Good comments, thank you. I am looking at different copy protection systems, and hopefully will be able to work something out.

Regarding the tactics, that is my intention. Dry training is one of the worst things to go through. Everything mentioned has to have a direct impact on how you fly, otherwise you lose the student's attention. I have two combat veterans as friends that will act as consultants on the Combat portion of the training, so it should more than satisfy you and others.

This is great! I loved your startup procedures training video. If the following videos are as good as this one, I'm definitely going to buy them.

Good work!

This is an excellent training aid! I applauded your dedication to detail and accuracy. There is a lot of additional material that is not covered by the producer's notes and or the manual that I think your product could very easily supplement. Things like common combat practices and more procedural events specific to types of operations, from attacking techniques, defensive techniques, emergency procedures, and of course a thorough and detailed systems presentation such as this one video. I'm not sure I would want to pay as much as $50.00 for the DVD series, but perhaps an online subscription service where I could pay for and download certain videos of material that I wanted a better understanding of, would be helpful. While I do feel I have a good understanding of the KA-50 now I would VERY much be interested in getting a video series for the up coming A-10C, especially if I could have it before the A-10C was released so that I had time to study up on everything before hand! Something that valuable I would consider buying for $20-$30.

Well what can I say that hasn't already been said? ABSOLUTELY AMAZING AND REMARKABLE VIDEO! I've enjoyed every little detail. Things are finally starting to fall into place now. Great work. Count me in. Looking forward to more lessions. You remind me of my flight instructor when I was working on my PPL.

Thanks once again for the support guys, it's great to see everyone as excited as I am!

@SinandGrin (nice name btw ;)), yep, you will be able to buy only the videos that interest you. That way you don't have to spend all $50, just pay for whatever you want.

@redtail Thank you for the kind words!

To everyone: I am buying a new computer to be able to get all recordings done in high resolution and at great frame rates. The computer I used to make the start-up video does OK when recording in those conditions, i.e. on the ground, no combat, etc., but it drops in FPS rapidly when things get busy. The new rig should be here by the end of August. Until then, lots of planning and script writing, as well as refining and adding to the list of covered modules.

A further evolution of the online videos is that they will each be available in low and high resolution, to cater to all kinds of internet speeds customers will have. Same for the downloaded videos, although in that case the high resolution version should be even higher than what the website will be able to do, so I'll probably have a high, medium, and low resolution versions. In other words, the downloadable high resolution will probably be available at the native resolution I recorded it in, then the downloadable medium resolution will be the same as the website high resolution, and the downloadable low resolution will be the same as the website low resolution. Just thoughts, but it's sounding like a decent strategy.

Hi Miguez,

Great video! And an interesting business endeavour as well..

Like many others, I would love to see more of this series, in fact, I was Googling my pants off trying to find this mysterious company called Leading Edge Training. ( It only exists here in Holland, as far as I could tell).

Would I be prepared to spend € 50,00 on the full series?

Well, if you can deliver the same (or even better) quality as in the sample... I would.

Naturally, a lot of people would like it for free or for a lower price, but I guess they don't fully appreciaate the time and effort required.

I just hope you realise the niche of this market and hope you don't invest much to receive little...

Perhaps, if publishing, selling and shipping would eat up a lot of your margin,

it might be an idea to slim it down and publish it on your own site. The revenue of adds might be interesting.

Another idea would be to sell the course to ED, as part of a Black Shark Gold or Deluxe Edition.

But that's just the business end of things..

Bottom line: Very impressed, especially with quality of voice, which is often overlooked in video tutorials.

Keep me posted, I'll buy the first, autographed edition!

Thanks for the recongition Eric. You're probably right, most people might not realize the amount of work. I am right now busy researching many different topics ranging from helicopter aerodynamics and procedures, to Ka-50 systems, scouring the net for loads of info. I am also busy planning the instructional background of these courses, using concepts such as the taxonomy of human learning behavior, which is something flight instructors have to know. Simple to complex, known to unkown, building blocks, learning styles, etc., really cool stuff if you like it, really boring if you don't :). Finally, I am busy writing the scripts that I read from when recording the voice, and rehearsing the scenarios that I create to have both a realistic and teachable situation.

I just hope you realise the niche of this market and hope you don't invest much to receive little...

I'll be happy if one or two people get something out of it. The rest is pure rewards. Teaching is one of my passions, so I won't be bothered if only a small number of people become clients, although hopefully that won't be the case :).

Check out the updates on the first post, if you missed it. The business plan accounts for this and actually transforms the initial idea of shipping DVDs into more of an alternative, since people will now be able to watch the videos online ordownload them.

I would be tickled pink by that! I am working with ED on this, they are fully aware of it (hence them hosting the sample video) and arehelping me with questions I have on the sim and the Ka-50. If they chose to incorporate it, I'd definitely entertain that idea.

Bottom line: Very impressed, especially with quality of voice, which is often overlooked in video tutorials.

Thanks again, very kind of you. I'll add this to all the other fantastic feedback and place it into my "Motivational" bag. Regarding the autograph, I wouldn't want to decrease the value of the final product :P.

Best regards,

I can't wait to get my hand on one of your final tracks considering how good your "first draft" already is. In depth system explanations, safety procedurres,....mhhhhhh, masochist paradise! :D

Thanks Tbag, it's early days, but it's absolutely great to see the enthusiasm!

I have just watched your training video and would like to be the first one to sign up for the full program. $50 is cheap compared to the time I will save. While it will be a long time before I go through the cold start-up as shown in the video, it was interesting to find out what all the switches, etc did.

PS where did you learn all this. Are you a former Russian pilot that defected?

Hi sobe,

Thank you very much for the words. Not to worry, in no time you'll be mastering her, all it takes is commitment and practice.

P.S. Shhh, don't tell the Kremlin!

Hi InFireBaptize (another good name :)),

I do plan to apeal to beginners and experienced alike. That's part of the hard planning work, designing something that interests all.

Regarding the price, it's very debatable. Keep in mind you will be able to purchase individual videos, so you may end up spending much less, depending on what you're interested in. But considering how much work this is taking, I personally think $50 is a bargain, but then again, I could possibly be biased .

The video was wounderfull indeed not to slow and not to fast with every explanation that you need. I'm looking forward to buying more videos when they are released and I hope that is soon :)

This video was awesome. I just bought this game and am obviously overwhelmed with all that I need to learn and your video has at least allowed me to start the bird. I am a dodosim 206 only flight simmer who has hundreds of hours flying their addon so at least I know how to fly the ka-50 already which imo is half the battle. Now I just need to learn the systems. Consider me a buyer of all of them based on your startup video. Any ETA on these being available to the public?

So anything new on the project? I too would be interested in seeing what you can come up with.

how bout a section on Air-to-Air. been getting my butt kicked like crazy. ;)

Hey miguez,

one question I have concerning your start-up video: In the manual, after the Rotor RPM readjustment check, there is the flight controls and hydraulic systems check. Is there a particular reason why this is not included in the video?

Hi Tbag,

Good question. I can't recall if that portion was not on the original manual (the patch erased my original and seems to have replaced it with the extended manual), or if I skipped it on purpose, or plainly forgot! Rest assured this start-up sequence will be redone in the series, and will include such step.

Thanks for catching that!

Thanks j0nx! No timeline yet. Ideally, the first videos will be out before the end of the year, but that's a little loose still. Once I have progressed a little closer to production I'll have a better timeline, and will share that with the community.

Hi GrifterMan, yep, new equipment keeps showing up at my door, and the last piece of the puzzle is a new PC, which should get here halfway through September. I am probably going to make a separate post detailing all the new equipment I have purchased to produce this series, there's some really cool stuff!

You're very welcome. If you need a beta-tester for your tutorials...... :D

I do! I am going to put together a panel of reviewers to check the ideas and/or the first runs of production. Stay tuned ;)
