Honestly, I'd prefer it NOT released today. 

If they found issues yesterday on the day it's supposed to be released, they've given one day for the dev's to diagnose and resolve the problem. Who knows how much time is left (if any) for the Closed Beta testers to test the latest release. Certainly doesn't seem like enough time.

Twould be OK if this was an Open Beta release to push it through so quickly, but given this is a Stable Release updating - 24hrs (or less given the dev and build time) doesn't seem near long enough for thorough testing - CB'ers to get it up on their closed servers, run through their scripts, missions, etc - and take time to test in both single player, and multiplayer... 

Please ED - take as long as the Closed Beta testers need to test the final build before releasing. If that's another week - as much as I'm hanging out for this - I'd much prefer a stable release than a rushed build.

Normally, the patches used to appear between 15:00 to 17:00 UKT most of the time. Fingers crossed.

I think ED should have waited until the so-called “final inspection” was completely finished before announcing that the update would be coming the next day. ED's rhetoric gives the impression that he's being rushed.

Kind of has happened many times, announcing the exact date and then postponing the release date again and again, which can seriously undermine players' confidence in ED, especially after the F15E incident.

I find this practice unthinkable and I'm sure there will be people who will change their work or vacation time because of the update, which wastes not only our time but also the efficiency of ED.

There are such people? I find this practice unthinkable and I'm sure ED keeps their efficiency to their own standards.

We make it clear that dates are planned, and are subject to change. 

If you make plans based on that it is a risk you take.

Sure, 

we share our intention to you all for the patch, our plan, but if we have any issues during our final checks we can change it so we do not release a bad patch that will break DCS.

I understand that, and I appreciate the production team's dedication, I just think ED could have planned the time management better, and having it happen over and over again can be a huge headache indeed...

@BIGNEWY you guys are doing great. I am humbled by the thought of bringing such a complex game (simulator) to work, over and over again.

I mean, seriously, just think about all the modules, campaignes, terrains and stuff that need to work after an update.

 

Just flew around in Afghanistan yesterday evening and i freaking love it.

Guilty. Of course I once or twice took a day off in anticipation of a big (content-)update. Half of the time it worked out, half the time it didn't. But when you are around long enough, you get more experienced and more chill about it and stop doing stupid things like that.
Software developement is incredible complex and you will never stop finding errors if you keep searching. The key is to catch as many showstoppers as possible before release, which is why you keep on looking until the last possible moment.

It's just the nature of the beast.

Please understand last minute issues can happen, and its not always bugs, we have to prepare our CDN, ensure steam is ready, and more admin stuff behind the scenes, there is always the possibility of one of those processes creating a problem.

It’s quite understandable to have last minute change as the nature of any complex project like this beloved sim software. Glad to have a planned date though wish for a bit of early notice (at lease 1 wk?) instead of 1 day ahead .
 

ED cannot satisfy everyone and it’s not necessary either. Some people complain because they still care. Hope that won’t frustrate ED team in anyway. Still looking for graphic engine overhaul sooner, even bugs inevitable in its 1st release. Microsoft made huge mistake with MSFS2024 release. Same with another giant IT company Apple with almost each of its major OS upgrades.

Hi Kerlcat and thank you, I think some people forget we are not a giant company sometimes. We all work very hard and are passionate about the work we do, some of us including myself have been doing this for well over a decade, we also get disappointed when things dont go to plan, but if we see any issue that will break DCS its always best to delay and sort the issue out. And as you mentioned even the mega corporations have bad days  
 

No matter what happens, we hope you enjoy DCS, and continue to have fun.

And I cannot agree more on this, it is better to give a date to get ready, but we have to learn this is not a promise, nor it is final. Nobody wants thing broken out of the gate.
