Are the wishlist threads actually worth it?

Serious question for ED, are these wishlist treads actually worth us posting in? In the years I’ve been on here, I don’t think I can remember anything I saw in a wishlist y’all actually did apart from what was already planned…

 

Just curious before I throw in my vote for the parking spots request, Pri-Fly light control, asking if we can get at least 2 client slots in pri-fly, and re-request a simple G**D*** IFLOLS trailer. Again just wondering if the requests of the little people even matter….Happy Thanksgiving.

Nah mate, its like this with basically every ED module. The proper name for such threads would be «Check if the feature that you want is "not planned" or "not accurate for the very specific variant of the aircraft"»

I'm not ED, but on my view these wish items are kind of useless, as the end-users have no idea how much development effort a wish requires, nor have them any idea how many development resources ED has available for such wishes after discounting the resources already committed to on-going projects. That means that most of the time the users make wishes that can't be granted.

To me, what is important is the bug reporting ... but useful bug reporting, with enough information to be able to reproduce the bug ... just a simple "this used to work and now it doesn't", or "this bug has existed for many years and is well known, so no need to describe it again" is not useful at all and most likely will be ignored.

I'll answer anyway - yes they are worth it. Just turn back to the first wish list pages and read - you'll quickly notice some things we actually got (or soon to be added) during the years, some examples I can see in a few minutes: light wands, deck marshalling, Hornet salute, ball call keybind, Stennis update, S-3B update, deck camera views, ship wake update...

Maybe they're not going to grant your favorite wishes but for sure they read and take them into considerations. Just manage your expectations - remember it's a wish list - not a to do list. Like @Rudel_chw said many of them are not realistic, not possible, too far out of the project scope and scale, too complex or just are not in line with developers' plans.

Hi all, I check the wishlist threads all the time, and will report good ideas or reasonable ideas when it makes sense. We cannot grant every wish though, and even if we deem something possible or needed, it needs to fit in with dev time. If you ever feel I have missed one and its really important and you want me to comment, DM me here, on Discord, or whatever. Thanks!
