Recently I can not start the game in certain situations:

- In editor, select AI plane: No problem

- In editor, select certain planes/ helicopters: No problem (F-16, F-14, AH-64, KA-50,MI-8)

- In editor, select some planes/ helicopters: Stuck at "Spawn Object" message at loading screen (F-5, F-15, F-4, A-10C, UH-1)

Log is attached, repair and deleting shaders, fxo files didn't work.

Hi. You may encounter the issue described here:

The solution for me was simple: look for old .diff.lua (and sometimes even .lua) in your "Config/Input/..." folders.

Please make a backup of your Input folder before you start deleting files.

hi, my input folder doesn't contain module names in it. these files are in mods/aircraft folder. there are tons of lua files there

Wait, what? Something's very wrong then! I'm not at home so I cannot produce a screenshot. Your Input folder should definitely contain control settings for all your modules!

Are we taking about this folder right?

Argh! The goal was to identify very old .diff.lua files and delete only those, not the whole folders.

I had asked you to make a backup beforehand. 👇 Do you have one?

About the F-4E, try a DCS cleanup and repair.

I do it the other way around: when I find a module which loading gets stuck, I kill DCS and go to the module Input folder, locate "twin" .diff.lua and remove the eldest.

I did the Tomcat this morning, and I'm sure I'll find others.

This looks like a new issue. I had never such an issue before, and you are now the second user I know to get this (I discovered the issue a week ago).

So even if we do that, same problem may come back unless ED solves it

I think I have figured the problem. Cuurently I am using a mod with sidewinder&ch fighter stick to get more buttons plus ffb.
now I deleted all input folder and all modules worked but when I make new assignment for my stick, new file is created. So next time that modle doesn’t work.
If I can not find a solution, then I will have to give up using this and revert to warthog

Then there is an issue for sure. If you delete the folders a new one with the diff files will be created the next time you change anything in the control settings.

That is strange. DCS is supposed to use Windows GUUID to name each device. These GUUIDs usually only change after a Windows reinstallation or reset.

@ebabil You mean that any time you unplug / plug your device, it gets a new GUUID?

Nice FFB2 mod by the way! 😍 It gives me ideas, I have the FFB2.

I don’t know what guuid means but all my devices are recognized and can be mapped instantly. It seems there is no problem but modules don’t work after I create a button mapping in game.
this device is recognized as two devices in the game, one is Ch fighter stick and other is sidewinder. But there is only one usb cable. Maybe game gets confused. I have no idea st all

I'm having the same issue. Sometimes it helps to alt+tab to taskmanager and then back to game and it starts to load the rest of the mission. However it doesn't work everytime, especially F-4E just hangs.

I tried deleting all the old .diff files and no joy.

edit. Tried even without controllers installed and same thing happens, especially on F-4, F-16 and F-5. Jumping to taskmanager and little wait usually works.

It is very annoying. I have removed sidewinder, deleted input folder, most of the modules worked. re-entered tried again and now none of them working. my doesn't work when there is a input folder???

I think i will uninstall dcs completely.

Have a go at a live log viewer and you'll be able to watch in realtime what's happening under the hood.
Try SPH Log viewer or something it's free. Pinging @silverdevil as I'm not at home and don't remember the correct name. You know which one, right?

Now it doesn't work at all anymore. Deleted dcs.openbeta folder from the Temp folder etc. Just hangs on spawning objects. Deleted all the logbooks and input folders too. Nvidia caches also. Every time when set as a player in the editor, the game hangs, doesn't crash but just hangs.

Did you @ebabil finally fixed this? I updated the latest patch today and the problem is still there. Rarely loading moves past the "spawning objects" and the game just hangs.

Did whole new reinstall by first deleting all the dcs related folders, then downloaded it to new folder,  no mods installed, patched it today and still the same issue.

After I removed my franken sidewinder and run repair problem seemed to be resolved but I am not sure, it may reoccur anytime

You are aware that a full slow repair is exactly the same as performing a complete re-installation?
A repair will not touch Saved Games, try to rename your DCS folder in Saved Games to DCS.old and try again. With problems like this, a corruption in Saved Games is often the culprit, a repair/re-installation will never fix.
It's also good practice to post the DCS.log, please do!
Cheers!
