In HUD and Boresight modes (Guns) - when the radar loses track due to the target moving outside the antenna limits the dish remains locked in its last position...

gifradar.gif

....or snaps back to the wrong place (Vertical Scan Mode).

Boresight mode

In this video I enter DGFT-Boresight mode, the target is locked automatically. I then drift left until the radar loses lock. Then I swing back and put the target on my nose but it will not auto-acquire. So I swing out further to the left and the target is re-acquired because my radar is stuck pointing way out to the right - the position it was in when it dropped the target.

HUD mode

Here the target is locked up and I drift left until lock is lost. Again, the antenna remains stuck over to the right (although still happily scanning

Vertical Scan mode

This one is slightly different. I lock the target and drift left to break the lock. The radar then seemingly snaps back to centre - but the scan zone is now offset to the left.

Hopefully this thread is not a duplicate of this one (I suspect at heart it's the same issue)

- by contrast I do not have any antenna controls mapped.

The ACM mode is bugged in many ways. It also starts scanning from azimuth left side when activated. So it just locks the first target that's the most left one. With the bore sight in HUD or jhmcs. Locking a target in front of you is a hassle if there is another to your left.

I reported it, it was set to investigating and locked. With the comment that it will be addressed after the data cartridge is released.

Which I find questionable, because sure the dtc is also very useful...But broken ACM mode should be the higher priority as it is used frequently. Especially now if it is breaking even more with new updates.

With those new introduced bugs, also another one that makes "no rad" stuck even when pressing TMS up, many users would be thankful to reconsider the priority to fix ACM modes I guess. @BIGNEWY

I also ran into this while testing for this thread, but I couldn't reliably reproduce it.

Tried to run your .trk but it won't even show in the list. Tried converting it to a .miz file but still it doesn't show up in DCS.

No need of converring. Just copy/paste it into Tracks folder (which is inside of Saved Games\DCS.openBeta folder). Runb DCS game, select Replay from the main menu, and select the appropriate file and click OK button. My track file should run on your pc.

Mission files and track files are identical except for the extension, and possibly containing "a playthrough".

Do like Skywalker says and don't change the file name. You want to replay it and not open in the Mission Editor, right? 😉

I'm not trying to convert the file - Skywalker's .trk did not (and still won't) appear in the Replay menu.

I switched the extension to .miz to see if it would at least appear as a mission in the Missions menu but still no joy.

The .trk is in Afghanistan - that's why I'm not seeing it.

Found the solution here...

Hello @Lixma 06

I too can't reproduce this issue.

There is another bug reported regarding the antenna elevation when the target enters gimbal limits, but not the azimuth. At first I thought this could be related but apparently not.

Please check if you have mods installed and try to make a repair. After that, if the problem persists, let us know.

Full repair, no Mods, completely vanilla - still the same.

I doubt it's user error - it's only two buttons - DGFT mode + TMS Up into Boresight Mode. After that there's no further input.

New video - exactly the same. In Boresight Mode the radar loses track but remains stuck (but still active) at it's rightmost limit instead of re-centring. To prove this I show the radar auto-acquiring the target while way off to the right.

Maybe somebody could record a video of them playing the trk. file and see if anything different occurs?

This thread is about the radar hitting (and getting stuck) - both azimuth and elevation.

Quick vid.

This one shows the radar getting stuck in both axes - the azimuth way off to the right, the elevation gets stuck past half-way down.
