joey45 Posted July 24 Posted July 24 The WE177 is modelled and works like one but It might end up being a glorified smoke bomb. 1 The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. G.J.S Posted July 24 Posted July 24 Just some Sea Eagles, rockets and iron bombs, that’s all it really needs! Looking forward to whenever this comes to fruition. 1 - - - The only real mystery in life is just why kamikaze pilots wore helmets? - - -
crazyeddie Posted July 25 Posted July 25 (edited) When I was a young Cpl we went up to Lossiemouth to do some FAC training with one of the Buccaneer Sqns. My boss at the time (Lt RM) was a complete prat and since it was a non tactical exercise he decided to set up his ground attacks controlling the aircraft from the lowered tail flap of the Landrover. 1st Attack the aircraft leaves the PUP and he brings it in VERY low right over our position. The pressure wave from the aircraft hit him, pushed the Landrrover right down on its springs and as it sprung up again he shot over the bonnet into some gorse. It quite made my day !!!! Maddog-1969 Posted August 2 Posted August 2 Excellent news!!! In the virtual aviation museum that DCS is becoming the UK aviation industry heritage is massively underrepresented. It produced so many groundbreaking designs and iconic aircraft. Especially with the release of the CW Germany map, many of the cold war era jets would fit perfectly. joey45 Posted September 8 Posted September 8 Quick update. I have a team to help with EFM and cockpit model. The A.I. model and FM is coming along nicely. 12 1 The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. A very much anticipated recreation of a sorely missed type. Watching this thread repeatedly. 1 - - - The only real mystery in life is just why kamikaze pilots wore helmets? - - -

The Bucc in question had obviously, at some point, paid a visit to CFB Goosebay or somewhere in Canada and had been "Zapped" with the Maple Leaf. "Zapping" was a common occurrence back in the day. "Zapping" an aircraft was the practice of applying custom stickers, badges, or paint to military aircraft as a form of friendly rivalry and humour to boost morale. "Zaps" were often placed in clever or hard-to-find spots on an opposing squadron's or air force's aircraft, or on ground equipment, during an exercise or detachment, and served as a sign of camaraderie and creative competition within the NATO armed forces. I have no idea if it still goes on.
crazyeddie Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Zapping used to piss off the handlers in the RN considerably, they got the job of scrubbing the crap off, or repainting it. Mind you, they did it to any errant foreign jets that landed on a UK carrier too, usually for emergencies, in which case they got the full works. Sensible foreign pilots landed and pissed off as quick as they could - avoiding the embarrassment on landing at home with some pretty awful 'graffitti'. Dont think it goes on now at all, the jets are too damn expensive and the paint jobs are very specialised. Happy days - not that I ever did anything like that - MUCH !!! 2
flyingscotsman Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago On of our guys managed to put the 38 Gp TCW, (Tactical Comms Wing) little dayglo mushroom on Air Force One. I was told about this a few times when I joined 'the wing'. The crew room bar at RAF Benson was a midas cave of senior officers hats from almost every air force on the planet and the walls were plastered with 'souveniers, liberated from said countries' The Queens flight took it all over and we weren't allowed to take it to Brize Norton. Some time later we had to go back for some gear, and were having a coffee there. Then an officer came in and warned us sternly that if anything went missing there would be trouble as this was THEIR bar. Up jumps "Happy" Halliday...."Can I take back all the stuff I stole, sir, I stole that in Italy..that in Germany... can I be charged for proving wher it came from? The officer legged it!
